Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

UOP HQ Location

I was sent a picture of slides but hard to read. REAL ESTATE PLAN and NEW UOP HQ OFFICE. Honeywell would sell Des Plaines property but retain R&D buildings. New UOP HQ location to be announced after new buyer is confirmed. Is this true or bogus?

Good riddance to a terrible company to work for. Great place to work when it was UOP LLC long ago, but since Honeywell assimilation, a hellish environment to work in. It was the talent of the people and not the genius of management that kept it alive this long. I think there is a borderline Superfund site along the north fence and pond too.

The energy transition will wipe out our HQ. The sustainable group doesn't have a single person that has done anything in energy transition but they did hire a lot of people.

talk about getting caught on the outside looking in. time to move to charlotte or gulp houston.

What is somewhere in the area close to O’HARE? Typical way upper management would word something they don’t want to tell you. Downtown Chicago is roughly 15 miles to O’Hare, that to some people could be considered close. Public transportation is abundant unlike the Des Plaines area. Chicago loves diversity, inclusion and wokness. Think about major corporations that have left the suburbs for Chicago. McDonalds and United Airlines just to name a few.

My final thought is that not many people will be happy with the final choice.

Research is staying. Every other building is being sold. A,B, land where C was, and Building D. That mean relocation for about 800 people somewhere in the area as the message said will be close to O’Hare.

Mostly a strategy to get UOP Lifers with pensions to quit. Sure buildings were old like the message said. What Honeyhell wants is cash. No selling cheap bonds any more!!

Selling buildings A, B and D and only retaining Research? That’s about 900+ people about to be very angry…. If just building D then just 50 people

Just sale of the property not the company. They would retain ownership of the R&D buildings and property they are on. Engineering and all other departments will move to unannounced leased location when buyer is confirmed. This information has been sent to employees via email this morning.

OP, was your impression that UOP is being sold? Or just the site?

Lots of office space available in downtown CHICAGO. The original office location before 1951 was on Michigan Ave. Just think what that would do to your travel time.
