Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford should be Ford

I have zero respect for the leadership. First of all, I do not consider them to be leaders in the true sense of the word. I think that Ford could have done much better if there had been at least a little more respect for the employees and if they had not made some terrible decisions.
Someone said it nicely: Ford should be Ford: continue making great cars and trucks, with a mix of ICE, hybrids, and EVs, but all the leadership is doing is trying is to become Tesla. Just wrong!

Ford came close to buying Kia in 1998. They would have been a great partner for electrification. Kia made the Ford Festiva and Aspire in Korea. Mazda design but built in South Korea. They were super-reliable cars. Employees bought them. Even my manager had one but people teased him about it so he sold it and bought a F-350 so he wouldn't get teased.

@1gtp+1iKi35ak - the original JV with Mazda Escape was average reliability for the time, and pretty popular with buyers. The first gen Focus was FoE designed garbage! Remember when 50 US engineers got assigned to fix all the defects in that Focus? I do!

I've said that same thing about Joe. He was a much better leader. I'm sure him and BF didn't get along and JF would do what BF wanted. I have no inside info. Just know that Alan started something good and Joe would have been a good choice. No one speaks up. No one stops projects when they are way over budget or not working.

Ford stopped being Ford in 1995 (Ford 2000). Back then our stock price was based on product not hype like it is today. Since that time frame our products planed from 1995 on have been horrible. I will not include U150/PN96/UN93. Those were planned under the prior regime.
Look at the original Escape and Focus. That trend continued right into today. When I hired in Q1 meant something. It was not a punchline, but it was the Law. You were proud of the products we had.
Nasser was no saint. but you knew where he stood. he was very Blount about it.
Just take a look how that whole week developed when the initial bonus was announced. That entire week tells you as an employee or an investor how things are really going inside Ford. It was like watching s SNL skit rather than management team.
That one-week sealed Farley's and his team's fate. Their true intentions were revealed. The employees have no faith or trust in that team. That along with the interest rates are why people are fleeing. BTW It's not just the old folks but the youngsters too.
But recently one of the so-called WH-Z kids made a stupid comment as to why our warranty is in the toilet. Her answer was "This is happening because we are working from home". Yeah. that Einstein needs to stop smoking crack. Those vehicles were built and designed before COVID. The LL6 and GSR. They only do what they are told to do. So, stop blaming them for your mistakes and bad decisions.

I checked for jobs at CSX for engineers but they are hiring a different sort of engineer then I had in mind. I guess I will continue being the caboose in my current department at Ford.

There was a post earlier today calling everyone here 'cry babies'.

You would have loved it.

It looks like the entire thread got deleted though.

I'm glad you're not a RINO like all the rest here. You get it. We don't deserve jobs or to make a living. We have to earn all that. I think we are LUCKY to have the leaders that we have! Whenever I walk past an LL2 or above in the workplace I always call them Sir or Ma'am and avert my eyes downward!

You people at this level sitting at home and doing nothing are talking about leadership. It’s funny.

Joe Hinrichs was the future. Ford threw away their future by letting him go and keeping Farley. Farley is in way over his head. And bringing in the leftovers from tech companies.

A mistake letting Joe go.
Glad to see him land at CSX.
