Looks like this is becoming popular among Shell's younger employees as well. It's not something I could do (my work ethic wouldn't let me) but I can't begrudge them either. Shell has changed a lot in the last decade or so and I can understand that those who only know it as it is right now feel no loyalty or company pride that would push them to work harder.

Reading some of these posts, it looks like some comments hit a nerve. Ouch! The old human condition of blaming “them“ for all ills while thinking “but I’ve done everything right and am an unappreciated, undervalue hard worker”.
Life’s not always fair but over the course of a working career with numerous reviews of performance, most end up where they deserve to be.
But whiners gonna whine.
I'm not quiet. I toot all day long. Blame it on the dog, people believe it even when I'm at work. But these people are kind of stupid.
A rather sad way to go through life, dreading the job but doing nothing to move on and rekindle the spark of accomplishment and the self-satisfaction from achieving results.
I worked with “quiet quitters” at Shell.
Our term for them was “dead wood”.
To the poster of this. You made me laugh. Camping out in a company position and pocketing a paycheck can easily be internally rationalized after almost three decades of busting your a-s and watching the dead wood as you call it currently in management. Easy to sit back and wait for that big fat severance that is coming.
People who do the minimum? My management. Almost all DEI. It's like trying to get something fast at Burger King or CVS Pharmacy. Or when theyre in the crosswalk in front of you. They will look at you and move even slower. I have never worked for a d-mber gang of id--ts than here.

Can’t blame them when Shell created the concept of JG99. Plenty of them got tired of of that and decided it is fine to work minimum while still getting a paycheck and package at the end.
Pretty much defines a couple of people in my team. Neither are young. One is close to retirement and he only does work after management gets after him. Even then he plays the fool and can't do simple tasks. Guy is a grade 3. Other person is always busy with personal tasks and works in between those. Another person is away on Teams pretty much all day.
OP how has Shell changed over the last decade? I've not been here for that long so curious how it used to be different
OP, it's definitely not just the younger generations at Shell. Older generations have been doing this for decades it only now got a trendy title. You state quiet quitting like it has to do with poor work ethic when that isn't the case at all. People are finally just drawing a line in the sand and stating to Shell and all employers. You need to compensate workers for the jobs they are doing. Don't hire them for one job and then over time add to it and not properly adjust compensation to the changing job responsibilities.
If an individual decides to set boundaries for a better work/life balance and they happen to be different than yours, as long as their work is getting done, you have no justification to judge their work ethic. Now if they aren't getting the job done, that's a different story.
