Maybe I'm wrong but I think that more and more people here are giving up on looking for promotions. It's simply not worth trying. Agree? Instead of exhausting myself with hard work that will not be valued, I prefer to do only the minimum required, while looking for other opportunities out there.

if you are not simultaneously seeking work outside the business, you are not ready for your promotion.
If you think you are worth that job, try to get it ANYWHERE. And don't be too coy about it either, when you get some bites, you let it slip to your next level manager in a 1on1 and see what happens from there.
In the present environment I can not get a promotion because I’m a white cis-gendered male. Since promotion is out, I do minimal work.
A larger question is why would anyone stay stranded and put up with the Bull S. at this company? Look, Find, Jump, Enjoy, Don't look back.
You have to be in that Anna Tipton circle partying at night with her fans to promote. Drinking and pot group. Inside business sales.

I don't know why anyone would take an Area Manager position. In many cases, L2's report to a L2 Area Manager. The AM gets all of the headaches, personnel issues, administrative stuff etc. Same pay. There is zero incentive, especially for a white dude who has no chance of promotion to L3 in the current environment (not complaining, just stating facts here).
I was promoted this past year after waiting nearly 11 years. I gave up trying. It’s not what you think it is. The little bump in pay, more hours, more work. It’s just not worth it. Maybe at a level 3,4,5 it would be, but at the upper end of a 2, no way.
