Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Management Layoffs happening today

Got the call earlier today that I am safe. My understanding is that this is going to be a significant hit. The boss seemed exasperated when I got my call this morning.

This was clearly done without much thought except get those pp off payroll ASAP; well figure out the rest later! Got my notice via email - since we don’t have HR anymore. We’re forced to read through documents and links to figure out what to do with no actual person to talk to , so sad! 2 week notice - unbelievable for EE’s who give their all and work /day/ evenings and even weekends or holidays, and even when we’ve sick and or on vacation. (Pretty much the norm for many of us !!!! )
Your losing out to college hires who you can use or lose like your coin change.

A couple tidbits of information regarding UI (Unemployment Insurance) in CA and TX.

California allows you to receive severance pay and collect UI simultaneously and you can file a claim your last day on payroll.

Texas does not allow you to collect UI and severance pay simultaneously. You have to wait for the severance period to end. If you receive 6 months of severance you can file for UI after 6 months off the payroll.

Please check with your state's employment development office for details.

Severance is paid within 45 days from when you sign General Release & Waiver.

Good luck ladies and gentlemen

Good luck to all impacted by this travesty of mismanagement! It's the AT&T way and we're used to it, so as they say, "what doesn't ki-l you, only makes you stronger!"

Santone is not being very transparent, something she promised when she took the job. Everything with Santone has got to be so cloak and dagger. Just give us the facts.

Is Santone trying to get the full 40% in this round of layoffs? I wonder how many waves of layoffs there will be? The layoffs yesterday seem like a drop in the bucket!

EMEA is an acronym for the part of Global Sales that has as its accounts the foreign companies headquartered in Europe, Middle East, or Asia and do substantial business in the US. CCLA was another term for a Global Sales division that sold/supported companies headquartered in Canada and Central/Latin (South) America. Far East was the same for customers headquartered in Japan mostly.

Other parts of Global Business have as their accounts the companies headquartered in the US which are the majority of the Global Sales account base.

T employees in EMEA who were protected by their home country's laws have to receive more time/notice than the 2 weeks US employees are getting so to hear they have until Oct 31 is very believable.

Nobody should be surprised that anyone from HR, Finance, or Legal was surplused. The company said a year ago they would be downsizing GSA.
Wake up people….wow. No wonder the stock is tanking. We have a bunch of scholars for employees.

Layoffs for people with pensions and over 60 would seem like age discrimination

Fire 1/2 of the TSC/TSC support in National Business that they pay over 100K and they do absolutely nothing. Worst expenditure ever. All during covid they have say home and done zilch, most of them but work a MACD here or there.

I mean, I don’t want to sound insensitive but who even knew we HAD HR employees anymore? We haven’t had any semblance of a local HR team where I’m at for many years now. Wasn’t aware if any HR employee besides Santone.

Managers were instructed to notify the affected work group today no matter what, so if you have not been notified today you are safe for this round. HR made it optional for managers to inform the non impacted employees. I personally informed the remaining team members in my org of who is leaving the business on Oct. 6th and advised no further impacts at this time. This is always painful to go through and really turns my stomach as a manager that has to deliver the news.

The response saying their boss called isn’t lying. AVP in HR called to tell you were safe or cut. It was not done as years past where sage employees are scheduled for a call to let them know they’re safe - it was an individual call.

“Don’t they need HR to process all these layoffs”? No. It falls to the direct manager to handle all the paperwork and it falls to the group PCA or whatever it is in Elink to actually cut the PCR. I left last year but was all too familiar with the layoff process and paperwork since I went through several rounds as a manager. There is a huge checklist the managers must complete including getting documents signed about IP and making sure laptops returned, credit cards cancelled, ect.

Best of luck to all impacted.

People who are impacted, if you go into elink does your employee status look different than 3- Active Employee? Try running a report with future date after last day

@ptn+1iQCNRlk I can confirm that my manager did call me. AT&T works like this. I'm sorry, I do not want to get more explicit with where I work or with what organization. My team was safe. Several others I know and work with outside of my personal team were let go though. Maybe you want to confirm before you shitpost.

I'm in HR, cut today. Not surprised it has always been feast or famine here. Monday we played corn ho-e, yesterday it was board games, chutes and ladders, monopoly, and chinese checkers. I'm happy to be leaving, although it may be difficult finding another job in HR. It seems like HR has been the go to department for many college grads.

20% reduction? Is this just the first phase? A higher percentage will be needed to make any type of impact.

"I'm in HR and I got the call from my boss my services are no longer needed. October 6th is my last day on payroll. From my understanding it is company-wide."
Massive cuts were needed in HR.

Went out on disability today. You are Federally protected while on medical disability.
Sometimes having an illness counts in spades.
I'm out for the next 10 yrs or until they make an offer to retire.

The layoff today was real. In the healthcare org I am in we lost 50% of our team. Yes, they did call everyone to let them know if they were safe or if their job had been eliminated. I am one the "fortunate" ones who survived. Very depressing to be at AT&T these days.
