If you are 2 years into the company for example as a new college graduate. You have less experience than most, you will cost less to layoff (granted also cost less to keep), and you cant “do more with less”. Does that mean layoff is likely? How has this been done in previous acquisitions?

You are safe of your start date was on a Tuesday or Friday. I work on the algorithm at BC
I work at Broadcom. Upon ACQ there were certainly people with less than 2 years experience that were retained, but it depends upon BU. If you’re a sticky BU in VMW than you’ll be fine as Octane will likely invest assuming you’re BU has been underinvested in the past…
OTOH. Anything is possible so I’d explore all options post haste….
If you are here less than 6-9 years you are safe.
If you are here between 6-9 years you are safe
You can actually do more with less. You learn this in your later years. A big layoff is coming.
Tenure has nothing to do with this. They will ensure layoffs follow a statistically sound curve across age, gender, role, experience, DEI, etc. so they can’t be sued.
