Got offer from XOM. Anyone know who they compare to cvx?

Chevron is a great american company. XOM is outsourcing everything except for management to countries like india. If you are an engineer, you need to have 7 am meeting with india, practically training your replacement.
Get your black suit jacket and white shirts ready.
I have worked for both.
XOM is very built to reward top performers. But the negative is they can be brutal towards their rank and file. Also their attitude is more like "we pay you well so we own you".
CVX is very good to the rank and file. But can be frustrating with the lack of decisions. Middle management is much nicer and try to be your friend.
One thing common in both is the "chosen few" seemingly having zero accountability. They are dubbed great leaders and their lack of results is somehow explained away.
I will give you a clear view of the work life balance views. At XOM when you worked 84 hours a week in a shutdown thwy gave me 1 day every 2 weeks (0.5 days per week). At CVX you get 44 hours of vacation for working an 84 hour week.
@ozh, So XOM makes people actually show up and work and they need to be seen and held accountable to be able to collect a paycheck? Wow, can't have that, can we. LMAO!
Obviously, you haven't done your homework. Chevron and Exxon have about as opposite cultures as one could imagine. You get away with a lot of things at Chevron, you get away with nothing at Exxon.
I just left XOM to go to a smaller independent. Ranking system is toxic/horrible; that said I was in the top bucket the past years but still hate the culture it creates. All the racist stuff in this post about white males is trash. I’m a woman and supervisor and if anything there is more of a focus to seek out minorities & females regardless of performance.
No bonus at XOM so make sure any offer is truly comparable.
XOM is terrible unless you are a 6 foot 5 white guy who likes to yell. Then it is great as you are promoted.
Doesn't matter if you accept, you'll soon be working for EMRON!
Who needs a 401k anyway?!
XOM will eat a chevron alive....within 2 years you will be shown the door for poor performance.
XoM don't put up with the baying lack of results common in chevron
XOM is much better managed with higher pay and more opportunities. CVX is looser and struggling.
Exxon made folks come into the office full time in Mid-2020.
CVX didn’t require folks back to the office till Mar 2022 and has gone hybrid and is pretty flexible.
There’s your key difference in culture.
Have you seen how many XOM people are coming here? Mass exodus from XOM. Ask xom people why they left.
