Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

I'm only here because I'm not marketable

However, it is interesting that there are still many knowledgeable, capable people at NOV who can find much better jobs than they have here. I don't know how to explain this. NOV just being lucky or something else?

That’s how they trap you. They put people into the wrong roles and then don’t provide any training on the role. As a coordinator for example I might need to know how many tubes need to be produced a week but there is not a soul that will tell me including the shift supervisor how to get that required number a week.

You’ll spend 5 years trying to learn or grow and then realize you just wasted 5 years learning nothing but internal politics.

Anyone every question the leaders? How does our manufacturing heads still have jobs?

You're right, these people, although lazy mfrs, they're pretty smart. They know this company brings a lot of perks that you would not have with a new company. Things like independence. Come and go as you please especially if you report to mo--ns. Another is an expense report, take advantage of taking "clients" to lunch, golf or bars of all sorts ;-) and also taking "business" trips where you might take your wife/gf or significant other. Some use this company for their personal agenda to advance their own company while getting paid to have these perks.

These people care less about advancing their career or making an impact to this company. Milk it for what it's worth boys and girls. LOL
