Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Why leaving F was the best decision you made?

I'm afraid that at some point I will regret it, and that's why I'm still undecided about leaving.

It was great! Though I didn't decide. Was one of the August layoffs. Found another job paying more in less than 4 weeks. And got the severance. It was like getting a second and bigger bonus this year! Thanks Ford!

So much happier. New job we can implement new things without 17 layers of red tape. Working at Ford is like getting paid to be shackled.

Seems like every time there are layoffs there are a ton of promotions that go along with it. Makes NO SENSE!

Leave the company if:

  1. They don't meet your financial needs.
  2. You're on anxiety meds to deal with the stress.
  3. You work harder and smarter than your team and not recognized for it.
  4. It's hard to get out of bed to get to the office.
  5. You no longer enjoy anything about your job (co-workers, tasks, environment).
  6. You have to post to see why others aren't living in regret once abandoning a sinking ship.
  7. You no longer believe in the brand.

The work life balance and lack of stress is enough reason for me to not regret it at all. In my mind, it’s just an added benefit that I have a non-hostile work environment, solid leaders who aren’t straight lying to my face constantly, and help/resources any time I ask for them at my new company.

I still get texts from old co-workers about being stressed to the max with all of the awful things they’re being put through and the less than knowledgeable suppliers.

I love my phone not going off outside of business hours and being expected to jump.

Leaving was the best decision and blessing in disguise I ever made. I left an organization and department where the two LL4s only cared about their own success and couldn’t make a decision to save their lives. They were ISEs from APA that needed to “find a home”. The entire organization had no respect for them and the morale and Pulse survey results dropped by 30 points in the first 3 months they were there. Leaving I found a new company with an actual leadership team and a culture that supported team work that makes everyone feel like an important member of the team. Even when there are tough decisions to be made (temp. Layoffs, downsizing, restructuring, etc.) the are up front with the work force to at least let them know what is coming at them. I know it is tough to make the decision to leave but trust me there are better opportunities out there.

I regret leaving…I regret being under paid for my skills and education… I regret having a boss who was unqualified to be my boss…I regret having no “opportunity” and being stuck in a higher paying dead end job..I regret the fear of losing my job…I regret staying at a job and turning into someone who was putting in the time waiting to retire…I regret not leaving sooner…I regret having the illusions that I was valued and had a career ladder to climb…hahaha!

It was the best decision I ever made because seeing all the LinkedIn posts about people boasting about their promotions as the layoffs were going on was enough for me to feel very solid in my decision to leave the company. Just made me realize that I worked with a bunch of selfish jerks.
