Cesspool charging stations

I think everyone needs to think about the potential that charging stations along the interstate will be nasty. Just like a bad restrooms at a gas station but more prolonged exposure.

Why are you thinking ANYONE needs to be working a charging station? They stand alone and are operated from phone apps and credit cards. There's no overhead to have someone actually there. There was an outcry in December after New Jersey and Oregon were considering legislation to require an attendant, like an gasoline pump. https://www.torquenews.com/1083/will-oregon-and-new-jersey-require-public-ev-charger-attendants

Charging stations will be dangerous. Muggings, rapings. They know you’re going to be trapped there for a while so will draw in the predators.

Let’s look at a small interstate exit that has 2 gas station. On a busy day each station might service 60 vehicles per hour. If you have 10 pumps each vehicle would spend 10 minutes at the pump. Seems logical if you use the restroom or grab a soda/snack. Scale it up to 60 charging station for an hour long stop. Scale that picture up to a really busy rest stop and you see the mess that will be created. We can’t get any $15/hour workers now and who thinks working at the corner charging station is going to be any different. There might be a few of them maintaining the charging stations but most of them will be food service and janitorial. Maybe the Ford dealership can become boutique charging stations and offer clean restrooms and entertainment.

Bucee's- Look them up!! Texas-based company, growing wildly in the Southeast.

Awesome place to fill the gas tank, gas prices $0.20-0.40 less than the neighboring stations. Great food (great prices)- hot/cold sandwiches and fresh salads, clean bathrooms. A truly great customer experience.

Not sure if they plan for EV charging, haven't seen one yet. Meanwhile, they host about 100 gas pumps, not to mention pumps for the trucks and RV's.

Bottom line, the Southeast (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, etc) are gas-driven states. EV's are just pipe dream thus far.

I can fill up and add 500+ miles of range to my gas car in 5 minutes. In and out, no problem.

Try doing the same with an electric. Looking at 30 minutes just to break 300 miles.

Why anyone would trust electric for anything but as a second car for short commutes is beyond me.
