Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Aug16 then 2 weeks paid then done

Volunteers could probably help with the transfer of knowledge. Involuntaries need to be walked out for fear of retaliation. It’s not very efficient to interview every potential retirement prospect. A blanket offer would help immensely.

I did receive an email about office safety and shooter training the other day. Are they worried someone will get out of hand on the way out.

@3qsk+1ibFECZS - the SRD lawsuit is NOT still going on. Ford settled because they no hope of winning if it went to trial. https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2022/01/10/ford-settles-age-discrimination-lawsuit/9149524002/

I want to volunteer, just create a package and I will ride off into the sunset. Our LL4 got the boot this spring and he commented about enjoying the summer on fords dime.

The last poster is exactly right about the lawyers. Ford has a habit of dragging out lawsuits to ensure that even if you win you still lose because you owe so mush in attorney fees. The big lawsuit from SRD is still going on after several years, and lawyers ain't cheap.

From my 'wonderful' SRD experience (not) .... here are a few tips that may help. If you think you'll be getting a pink slip, discreetly do what you need to do to get your personal items off your computer and take your personal office things home now. Don't wait until the last day to do this. Once the announcement is made, each action and every keystroke you make on your computer, plus what time you leave the bldg and what you're carrying out will be closely monitored by the OGC and Security. If you have a company car(s), go buy one whike you can still get a Tag Number. All company vehicles have to be turned in on your last day with both key fobs (or you'll be charged for the missing one). In addition, while there's still time, get your online pension info / insurance data together and do your research now. Calmly try to figure out what would work best for you the long term payout or a lump sum. Its easier to make these indepth decisions while you still have employee access to the company websites. One final thought, if you do decide to go to court as part of a class action -know that the only winners are the attorneys. You see, after you 'win', that big monetary award is divided evenly among the winners. Then the bills start coming in, such as court costs, your attorney fees, filing fees, service fees, appellate costs, refiling costs, etc. Once those bills are paid what remains of that big monetary award is a mere fraction of the original settlement amount, and that's all that will be available to support self / family plus future medical expenses for the next 30+ years. Unless one is independently wealthy, please do your research. Yes, those SRDs did win, but look how much they lost. Good luck

I was let go in SRD and I wasn’t walked out immediately. After learning my fate I worked for a week or so to do turnover of my work. I had no loyalty to Ford but I liked and respected my direct reports and knew they’d be left trying to resolve the issues.

Cut the severance and there is no reason not to have a go at a lawsuit. With Ford's track record, why not? They absolutely want to disproportionately remove older employees.

Whatever happens, if you survive, it's going to be like emerging from a bo-b shelter when all is said and done.

I don't think so. There might be some of that going on at the LL4+ level - possibly LL5+ where they tend to really draw the line in the sand between salary grades.

Face facts- Ford will use every opportunity to cost save this down to as close to nothing as possible. There is other good circumstantial evidence that the SIRP lump-sum benefit will or has been cut. Could it be to offset what you're describing? Partially maybe. There would still be A LOT of those over 40 who would not be grouped into that bucket but instead get peanuts to walk. The word would travel if in fact what you're saying comes true and those people would be calling Sam or at minimum those over 40 telling themselves to forego it and sue.

The less they pay as a SIRP payment, the more likely the lawsuits. So you think an LL6 @ 55 with 23 or 4 years or maybe even an LL5 with the same seniority and age would be ok with said arrangement? So hypothetically they would get 6 mos and the other a 3 years+ "Windows" package? MANY would sue Ford just to prove a point in a setup like that.

The best thing Ford could do would be to expand the maximum payment to 12 mos and try to position that employment assistance firm as more of a placement firm to quickly get people a comparable offer. This is the number 1 thing that blunts lawsuits or close to it. Of course it's also difficult for those over 40 because a large number of those have been pigeonholed into jobs over the years building useless, unsellable skills.

Engine division is going to cut as many heads as possible since compared to other divisions it did not trim its ranks when others did.
LL2/3 are giving special packages to LL6/5/4 with more than 25 years and in their early 50's where they get the years needed for a fully vested pension. This package is only for LL's, GSR's won't get it. This is a way to mitigate lawsuits argument regarding discriminating old folks. Yes, old GRS (50+ years old and 20+ years in service) will get pink slip.
Other divisions with merge departments with on-going PD (OPD), FWD and RWD Transmission departments will merge into one dept. and old LL's with the right criteria will get a juicy package to retire. There are many LL's at Transmission Div with more than 25 years in service who are in their early 50's
Since 1 LL6 equates to +/-2 GSR, 1 LL5/4 equates to +/- 5 GRS's (including salary and bonus) GSR are fair game to be fired on the spot.
People with personal contacts in Engine and Transmission shared this info, with a group of GRS's at a recent Underbody Systems Picnic.
Some LL6's who celebrated 30 years in service (Gawronski, Gooden, Heuver, etc.) did not deny that info just smiled and winked
There is no due date established but managers and chief engineers are contacting those who meet criteria to discuss retirement packages so they can claim lump sum pension before interests rates go up
Who said that Ford is not a family ? It is a closed knit family for all who are LL's
GSR's are just a number / expandable ASSets
