I got let go after more than 15 years, top performer, no warning or explanation. Whole team gone.

So many people at the bank say that they are too important or needed. They will never let them go. Until it happens and it will.
The surprise in your post is amazing. How could you possibly think you would be safe if you've seen what's happened for the last 15 years there?! Everyone should pay heed to this. USB doesn't care about you at all.

It’s funny sort of, that once people post things, they never follow up by giving details. Like if your whole team got wiped out, just say what the team was and where.
I realized a long time ago there’s no such thing as company loyalty anywhere. The same place that promotes you one year can sever you the next. Do your best, build good relationships, and hone and learn new skills. Keep your resume and LinkedIn up to date.
