Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Why can’t ford make vehicles with decent quality.

I am sick of all the recalls at Ford lately. Why can’t we make quality cars like Honda does. Just need to be as good not better….we already lost in the sedans segment by Accord and civic. Now the new crv 2023 is a lot netter than the escape. Why. Why why. Please do not be stubborn and deny this, just admit it and work on making better cars. If u do not believe this just ask yourself what will this new car be worth in 5 yrs with 100k miles on it…..

It starts at the leadership, and works it way down. I'm at pdc in Dearborn and some of the leadership we have is a joke. They will do anything to cut costs instead of doing what it takes to produce quality vehicles and even quality designs to begin with.

It's not a priority from top down, there is a something to be said about culture. Lack of accountability for poor decisions. Function follows form.

It's the Detroit mindset, the customer is just a su---r to be taken advantage of.

Yes, there are many issues going at Ford: poor discipline, skipping processes, too many meetings, not having good engineers, etc. However, all those issues are caused by the lack of accountability in the company. Not only the parties at fault get to stay in the company, in many occasions are promoted.

The solution is "simple" (there is nothing simple in this company). Every single step should have a responsible employee. Something is wrong, fire the employee and the manager, for hiring such a lousy employee in the first place. This solution will cut the amount of deadwood, friends and family members, clueless managers, etc. However, it is not going to be implemented EVER, because that would means the Ford family would have to fire Bill for hiring Farley.

Too many meetings, with too many people, going in too many directions.

Time to change the name from Ford Motor Company to maybe . . . Ford Battery Company ? Ford Government Mandated and Supported Battery Company ? FGMSBC ? :)

Faster, Faster…. Their mantra seems to be….. get it done/launched as quick as possible and fix things later. Quality is not #1 priority.

It all starts with lack of foresight and solid system engineering. As an example I would never recommend a 3.5 or 3.7 AWD Ford to my worst enemy. The PTU sits right next to a blazing hot catalytic converter and has a few cups of synthetic "lifetime" gear lube. The lube literally fries and there is no drain plug! It's a $2k repair that leaves the owner stranded in the road.

The 3.5 and 3.7 engines have internal water pumps. They are inside the engine and require over 14 hours of labor to replace. If the owner balks at the $2k replacement fee the bearing or seal wears out and the pressurized coolant dilutes passes through the chain driven water pump and turns the engine oil into a "milk shake". A perfectly good engine is wasted.

Late changes, poor discipline to follow our own processes, cutting people I stead of solving real issues, poor supplier quality driven by unnecessary complexity
