Was recently laid off. Saw it coming and was actively interviewing before I was finally told. Now have a MUCH better job, better benefits, etc.
If you’ve been severed or are about to be, have faith. It gets better. If you’re still there, know you CAN get out with some perseverance.

Laid off in July and since then have been pounding the virtual pavement hard with many interviews. If you are qualified and want a 100K+ job it’s rarely going to be easy. However, with a couple offers in hand with base salary 20K more than I was at USB and overall comp. 30K more, don’t believe getting laid off is the worst thing. You should have great options if you put in the work and market yourself well.
I understand what they're getting at. They may a good point. People think this is a place to hang a career hat on and that, if they suck up enough to the right people, they'll be safe. They just added some dramatic flair.
The fact is, nobody is safe. It's only a matter of time.

Everyone that thinks that they are safe, they are wrong. USB is searching night and day for the first moment that they can cut you. Management sucks.
The life-ers are still hanging on. You know who you are. Top of the pay scale and raking in the big salary and benefits while paying for your kids colleges, wifes spending and etc. while you extend you decline in knowledge and skills. You got the wake up notice but think it is safe still. Kiss that bt and scrw over another subordinate. It is just a matter of time. You are just not yet called. Look to your saviour manager or EVP, but he is gone or going soon.

Totally agree. Life after USB is great! Less stress, more pay, better benefits, no micromanaging.
