The "algorithm" in this instance is quite simple- fire older workers and broom whoever you need to make the numbers box. I ultimately think this ends up costing Ford from the standpoint that even those who survived will never know if they're next or not- this was about as obvious as it got. They promoted people to fire them, hired them to fire them, fired highly skilled HTHD, etc.
This was about as random as I've ever seen a corporate action, so I hope this is a wake up call for everybody left standing at Ford. You're all crazy if you don't at least post your resume on Linked In and other sites while still employed. The best time to get a job is while you have a job and most people without a pension are not at all tied to Ford. They let me go as a TA while retaining an agency employee who did 2 things if that tells you anything.
In order to avoid lawsuits, they must balance cuts of older pensioners with younger emp!oyees. It's entirely possible new hires were only hired to balance against an older worker they wanted to broom.
I think I was almost hired just to get cut. The HR lady was super shady. Trying to bully me into giving her info she did not need. Asking inappropriate questions you would not normally ask during a HR screen. I smelled BS and did not bite.
Don't matter much. Ford stock is going down to $5 at some point in time. The gap in the charts tell us this.
That said, does it make anyone feel better that the stock people are going to get hosed?
High temporary hype drones…
Many people with the right skillset thought they were special, especially younger people. They didn't stop and think that those skills really weren't that difficult to acquire and many skills are only needed short term. EVs are seen as having great profit potential because of their simplicity.
I know of two people that were given stock just a couple of months ago that got cut on Monday. This is so bad on Ford's part! "Congrats, your performance was so good last year, here is extra bonus and a few thousand dollars in stocks! Oh and you've been SIRP'd!" Total mixed messaging.
Work hard, perform and get no where. SMH
HTHD here without stock options and still here.
There was no decipherable layoff algorithm.
I feel terrible for the people the company fooled into thinking they were in demand only to kick them to the curb.
The stocks had a vesting period.
Not so, I had both and got the boot.
