Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Cross trained

My role is supposed to be cross trained soon but we already have enough responsibilities without these new ones. Anyone else experienced this—how did it go down? Does it stay long term? Can we still get laid off if they are cross training us?

The company is struggling to find people interested in working for them and have tens of thousands of current openings.

I was on a team that took several high performers to cross train, then it came to light we’d be “helping,” … by working mandatory overtime. There was some pushback and essentially those cross-trained all left - getting promotions both internal and external. None of the roles were backfilled and there were off shore teams that presumably acquired the work? Although, seeing on LinkedIn some of the offshore colleagues also left the company for great promotions.
