@qyy As a different legal employee here, we spend our days being pulled into business issues, provide thoughtful legal guidance in an effort to do what’s right by the customer and protecting our client-the bank-just to have everyone pushback or say no. They don’t have the money, time, resources, systems. Our hands are tied to some degree.
I agree with you about leadership though. Nothing but a bunch of Chase flunkies.
News flash: WF doesn't have litigators internally. They hire external firms for that.
Except that most of those cases are outsourced to third party legal firms. No WFC attorney actually tries a case in court. They really just provide guidance internally or manage the cases with outside firms.

Fair point. I purposely used the word “empowered”, but I could have worded that better.
My frustration is always (meant to be) aimed at Senior Leadership, never the employees. Ethics and effectiveness flows from the top down.
As a Legal employee, I approve.
That said, and having read only the portion of the article not blocked by the paywall, this case was DOA for the opposing attorney... No duty = No negligence = take your dismissal and GTFO.
Isn't that what Risk/Front Line Control is supposed to do? Aim your frustration at those groups, not Legal. Legal is a lean operation and has a headcount of ~1350. Risk is ~10k.
As defense attorney’s say: Even the worst offenders deserve a defense.
An empowered and effective legal team would concentrate more on preventing fraud and other nefarious activities at WFC, rather than defending us if and when we get caught.
