This is like death by a thousand cuts kind of scenario. All these companies are slowly but surely eroding the lead Intel had in x86 and memory sector (when they used to make NAND). To be fair all the semi companies in the top 10 by market cap are down today. https://companiesmarketcap.com/semiconductors/largest-semiconductor-companies-by-market-cap/#:~:text=Largest%20semiconductor%20companies%20by%20market%20cap%20%20,%20%205.52%25%20%2030%20more%20rows%20

Semiconductor industry is cyclical. TSMC and Samsung are definitely ahead of Intel (for now) just as Intel was ahead of TSMC and Samsung until about 2017 or so when they started pulling ahead. This new guy though is getting all the money (on taxpayer's dime!) and making arrangements with canadian loansharks to pump in more money. Definitely not a sign of a healthy company, waiting to see what the future holds. Wondering if this company would have already filed for bankruptcy had it not been for these interventions. INTC - you better pull miracle out of your a-s or you are not going to be around for too long.

I see this as good news. Beating a top dog like Nanya Technology is no small feat.
