Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel is now a small fish

https://finviz.com/map.ashx

Look at the semiconductor companies and how all the fabless players dwarf Intel. TSMC is just crushing Intel which cannot even field new products without massive government and external capital flows.

Giants like Apple, Microsoft and Google are bigger than the entire semiconductor space, so of course it’s in their capability and interests to build their own silicon.

There is no way any reasonable engineer would want to stick around Intel.

Intel’s disruption is now complete and is not an economically viable entity with the current business model.

I don’t get it.

Be and IDM and be a foundry?
There’s obvious conflicts of interest.
Intel is trying to compete with giants with one hand tied behind its back.

Just ridiculous management here.

Intel missed every industry pivot, classical case innovators dilemma

And what does the prodigal son’s return result in? Let’s double down on broken IDM model and try and be a foundry, something they failed at when they had scale and leadership and now they have neither scale, leadership, nor ecosystem, what a total FUBAR in the making that will make prior failures and layoffs a little speed bump
