Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Thank you Lord for the 2018 VSP

I used to be a regular in this group when I was with VZ. I noticed how low the stock price was and decided to see what’s up. Sorry to see all the bad news. I was with VZ for 14 years and first 7-8 we’re pretty good and I worked with some great gals/guys. Things changed for me for the worse around Vodafone buy out - started seeing good people leave and changes I did not agree with. So happy and thankful I pressed the Yes button on VSP! Due to the large (for me) payout and fact I found a new higher paying job in a few months even though I am in my 50s I have no complaints. Good luck all.

In my 20+ years at VZ , I managed to hang on through many RIFS. I had to scramble and find new jobs internally. Finally, when I was ready to leave - I was offered the VSP! I was so happy!! but when I accepted the VsP offer I was denied….that’s life at VZ, always getting jerked around.

To clarify my response below, I’m not saying 10% of employees applied for the VSP (not sure what that % was), but of those that applied/“clicked yes”, 90% were accepted and got the VSP, that percentage was stated in the mass email from Hans on the morning all the notices went out. I was one of the unlucky 10% of the “Yes” clickers who got denied.

I’m glad it worked out for you! I was one of the 10% that clicked the “yes” button but was denied, even though I had been there for 15 years and was in my 50’s. That was one of the worst days ever: getting the denial email followed by the stupid call from my clueless director promising that things were going to get better on our dysfunctional team (of course it never did and he moved on shortly afterwards). It took me a couple more years to finally make my escape, life is great now. I miss many of the wonderful people I worked with but it was toxic by the end and I had to leave to save my sanity. I check the stock price and this board from time to time out of curiosity, I wish everyone the best.

Not everyone was given the opportunity to get the VSP! Take your gloat and shove it.
