Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

For once, they laid off people who deserved it

I know this is probably not the case company-wide, but it is for us. Two people were cut from my team so far, and I'll be honest with you, they needed to go. The rest of us were pulling more than our fair share of work to make up for their laziness. I know this is not true for everybody, but I'd lie if I said this isn't a good outcome in the long run.

Our entire director group with amazing tenured folks all let go with no consideration for wealth of experience. Everyone on my direct team except one person was over 50 and very flexible with diverse work backgrounds. Over 125 years of Telecom experience between 7 people - gone. Just sad.

Prior rounds of layoffs had hit those with more experience much more than this round.

The part of the severance that nobody talks about is that if you take the severance package you also sign a waiver against taking any legal action against T-Mobile for the separation. Otherwise you lose the severance.

Is your nose up MS's bu-t? Sorry, but I worked my a-s off for this company on salary on the frontline, short-staffed, 60+ hrs a week and returned great metrics. Some colleagues were let go in similar situations. You'd better think before you generalize.

" I'm the youngest in our group and all the old timers are still there."

Some younger employees had to be included to keep TMob from being hit with an age discrimination lawsuit.

They're reducing expense. Age/tenure will go first.

Not my team, my manager who everyone adored for let go, they let go a lady who was set to retire next year too. It seems like all the tenured people making more money are getting the boot right now.
