Go get yourself a strip mall mailbox in some remote town far enough away from any WF location.

Yup…did the change of physical home address in Workday, although while house-hunting my address is a P.O. Box near where I would like to plant roots. Finance has already processed my go-forward payroll deductions according to my payslip (moved from a state with no personal income tax to a state w/ <5%). No red flags yet…
To avoid RTO, outsource your own job. Sponsor someone's visa, etc. Whatever you have to do to get someone else to do your work for minimal pay.

Oh, they want you to only log in from the USA? Get an Azure VM in a North American region, remote to it and use it to connect to your WF VM. As far as they'll be able to tell, you're connecting from the US.

Permission from whom, exactly? I notified at least three managers in my food chain that I was relocating 1,200 miles from my “assigned” location. I was WFH long before the Covid plandemic, and once my Remote-status was blessed by SVB himself, we moved. What is this? East Germany before the wall fell? People higher up the food chain get treated A LOT differently than the common riff raff when it comes to RTO. I’ve personally seen several examples of “rules for thee but not for me”, and special treatment. Not really setting a good example.
Not true. My house is 40 miles from my assigned location and I didn't even request to continue to WFH, I requested to move to a different building (3 are closer to my home) and request was denied. I found a new position in a building closer to home.

if you move without prior notification to a non-sanctioned location (meaning, there is no office for you to come in to), it's considered a voluntary resignation. There is no approval of new full time remote positions.
If you want to move to another WF location and office out of there, you still need prior permission depending on whether that location is approved for your LOB.

All HR needs to do is Google the address and do a live view of the area to realize it's a PO Box and not an actual residence. Also, there will be complications when your actual residence and PO Box are subject to different payroll taxes. Lots of potential tax issues.

They can fire you if you move without informing them. It was in one of the initial FAQs when they first voided telecommuting agreements. You need to get approval to move first. They word it as "voluntary resignation."
Is there any policy preventing someone currently remote from moving 40 miles away from an office? Like they can’t stop you from changing addresses in the system or fire you for moving further away?
Lot easier to just get a different remote job without any of this subterfuge.
