Right now the back room Associates are the lowest paid in the store with the biggest responsibility you cannot function without the back room Associates it is a $25 an hour minimum job.

All this means is dead forklift batteries and damaged product. But, we all know the sams club mantra. If it's not broke, we will surely break it.

Fresh managers can't cut meat or decorate cakes. Front End managers couldn't get a credit card app or plus first to save their lives.

Give this comment a thumbs up if you know a club manager that couldn't describe "leading by example" if their paycheck depended on it

Most managers don’t even drive. Lead by example and get to it.

They were telling us that all floor people had to drive a forklift, had to pass the cbl for forklift manty times. All the years I worked there not one merchandiser had to drive. I can just see a lot of mistakes or running into endcaps, dropping stuff out of the still, some people wouldn't feel comfortable and shouldn't be pushed to do it. They would lose people from the floor to do other jobs, what do you think the club is going to look like !!! This company has there heads you know where.

Been hearing that for 30 years. Unlikely to happen.

Combining a high rate of turnover with a mandatory requirement like this is asking for problems.

I heard a long time ago that we were going to the Costco model of merchandising up until you open, then run registers, carts and other front end horse cr-p! I'm still waiting on that one!

Every new hire thinks they should get more money for driving a lift and the leadership is making lift driving a kiddie job. I'm mean these id--ts can't even stack two pallets without pi----g their pants! These scatter brain people can't do anything that's not presented in Tik-Tak or Ingestagram form. I don't think I've seen many new hires complete a task without walking around 5 or 6 times before half way finishing!

Your long term associates are the ones keeping this company afloat, but all they want from you is more, more, more, with no $$$!

Congratulations Sam's for making a simple wholesale concept into a complicated hybrid glorified grocery store! If I had a dollar for everytime I've heard or been told "that's too much" or "Do you have anything smaller", I could retire! The slogan "In business for your business" has become "Ki----g our business for your gain"!

BTW, I December, mandatory dress code will be all management wear Santa suits and everyone else Elf outfits!

All Merchandisers?

How about starting with all managers should be forklift certified.
In my club, the GM is the only one who knows how to drive a lift. All 6 assistant managers refuse to learn.
Once that is accomplished, move on to teamleads.
It would also be nice if even one person in club pick-up could drive.

Get backroom training as forklift driver

No, you guys need to pick up the pace and stop trying to pull from short handed areas such as merchandising, where actual physical labor is taking place.

But actual job coded ‘Forklift merchandisers’ will still receive higher hourly pay?

  1. Complete forklift CBL
  2. Practice driving forklift including practical work
  3. Get backroom training as forklift driver
  4. Have managers and leads praise me with my super awesome forking skill.

Been with the company for over 20 years and still have yet to pass the forklift CBL.

Besides to the associates who do not want to drive lifts. Be sure to add those associates who should not be allowed near a lift under any circumstances.

Not everyone will be driving every minute of every day. Obviously not enough forklifts. But the point is that any merchandiser can hop on when members need loaded, something needs to be pulled out of steel and trucks need to be unloaded. If you are unable or unwilling to be certified you can apply for an open req and move to another area.

Does that mean everyone will get raises since they all have to be forklift certified? We don’t even have enough lifts for everyone . The people that need to be certified is club pick up and fresh … they are so needy and the merchandisers have to always stop everything to help them , but when we need help they are no where to be found

Riiiiiiight. They said this years ago when block scheduling was implemented. There has and always will be merchandisers that will not be forklift certified. Guarantee it.

Nit wit #1.....obviously there are not going to be forklifts for every worker all the time...but every worker should be able to jump on a lift and help out!
Nit wit #2 you wouldn't have the brain capacity to last a day in receiving. I hope this post is true because the back room has become an understaffed flaming ball of 💩

That would be pointless being we don’t even have enough lifts for all the lift drivers now🤣
