Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

TMO Future

T-Mo is shutting down legacy Sprint wireline business so expect more layoffs. Their infrastructure is so old Deutsche Telekom has no interest in investing in wireline business in US since it would require complete overhaul as capex has been squeezed from wireline to upgrade wireless for years.

T is only interested in growing 5G market share.

They see AT&T & Lumen in enterprise space as too strong competitors to take on any longer so shutting down wireline and grooming wireless to Sprint’s fiber backhaul and metro assets is their best play. They waited too long for asset sale so now will leave all business customers high and dry.

So for all affected workers, need to look at market and you should all know it was coming no surprises. Tmo didn’t think this through, asset sale would have been better, now many of their business customers will flip their wireless to AT&T and Vz. Business customers better look for a vendor committed to investing in wireline enterprise.

If Wireline does get sold or spun off they will probably be the lucky ones. TMO was disrespectful and ruthless with these layoffs.

Wireline is being sold. They are finalizing the sale. It should be public this month. There are article's about it that came out in mid August. But wireline employees have been offered a buyout.

They are literally turning off sprint towers and leaving regular customers high and dry. Handled a call where a 9 month pregnant woman could no longer use service in her home and couldn't even dial 911. the notes on the ticket came back flat out reading that two sprint towers were taken down in her area and won't be functioning until they are "magentified." They're not even telling customers what they are doing and charging them for the service!!! Then we are tasked with lying to them and telling them to upgrade their phone to 5G as that will have better service, they don't, they have worse service actually.

Much like how there's nobody using CDMA anymore. All of those who were supporting CDMA from legacy Sprint should have expected to have been laid off.
