Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

NTAC and Noc Transport

They released everyone who was part of the legacy sprint transport team. I’m hearing the Atlanta office was wiped off the map. Definitely the most cold hearted cut I have witnessed.

Meanwhile leadership is all about Space-X and the lack of acknowledgement makes it more uncomfortable for those remaining. #whatcompanyculture

Not a big secret that the network was being decomd, but should have made sure the legacy T-Mobile noc techs knew how to work the sprint stuff (cause they don’t). The sprint noc techs and ntac were supporting both networks, performance, dark fiber and edge routers. Add in the reduction of field support and expiration of the Ericsson contract. Then consider the T radios on sprint back haul. You are going to either need more techs in the field or more knowledge in the noc, but they cut both.

Not a big secret why L Sprint transport was hit hard with only 11k sites nationwide on the retain list.

@1zqb+1iveHJaO They're done...for now. Check back in a few months once it's NTAC's turn again.

My senior manager just said they’re done with reduction NTAC is pretty safe. But how do I tell them that I want to be dismissed. I’m planning on leaving regardless …

It’s not the removal of labor that is shocking to me, it’s the selection method. The amount of risk they placed on the network doesn’t make sense. Why include NTAC if you are wiping out the NOC, including all their managers? They selected each LS BH NTAC engineer in Atlanta, but left the others in place. Can’t figure it out

Okay... Atlanta employee here... "Atlanta wiped off the map" not even close to reality. In the RNE&O group, we reduced 9 total employees out of a total of almost 200 people. Not sure if they are done with layoffs overall... But wanted to make sure that some of these statements are aligned with the truth of the matter also. Hoping that I will survive the next rounds, should more be coming our way.

No it's not strange. The company was restricted from laying anybody off based upon the merger terms. It's now over 2 years since the merger and and they're allowed now to lay off people.. And so they are. Labor is the highest cost of running a business. If you want to reduce operational expenses immediately, you remove labor.

Is it me or does it seem strange Sprint layoffs are happening now, almost 2.5yr after the acquisition closed? Is this just a cover for layoffs in other departments?

Agreed. T-Mobile as a company has changed a lot after JL departure and deviating from its cultural values and spirit to support employees and customers (maybe yes for customers but who the he-l is going to keep customers happy by keeping the network up 24*7 if all the talented people been laid off). No more Magenta spirit from ICs now. Better to start looking job (whoever left) and find a good one to work with.
Someone ( i know who but don't want to name it here) said it rightly...

"Love your job but don't love your company because you may not know when your company stops loving you" - Dr K.
