Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

"So, let me be really clear on this increasingly important topic...

...This merger is all about creating new, high-quality, high-paying jobs, and the New T-Mobile will be jobs-positive from Day One and every day thereafter. That’s not just a promise. That’s not just a commitment. It’s a fact."
This was the message T-Mobile delivered to deceive and convince the government, the public, and the employees of T-Mobile and Sprint that the merging of these two wireless carriers would be a benefactor to society. T-Mobile is rolling out layoffs in phases and as quietly as possible to avoid and skirt the WARN act where applicable. There are hundreds of T-Mobile employees that have lost their jobs this 35th week of 2022 and in the months leading up to the 35th week with more planned into at least early 2023. Some of these people have only known a career at T-Mobile and have nothing else as this is all they know. The jobs T-Mobile intends to create are offshore and contracted managed services; not internal as their countless "merger positive" pitches have suggested. T-Mobile has broken its promises to the government, the public, and its employees about its intentions. T-Mobile has also neglected its responsibility to protect customer and employee data as shown in the data breach of August 2021. The company is a mine field of cybersecurity threats and continues to operate a network that is not safe or secure. The job losses T-Mobile has inflicted will only make this network security issue worse. I write this anonymously for fear of retaliation as I am still employed by T-Mobile, US. I seek the compassion and understanding of the United States Department of Justice and will fully cooperate as an anonymous whistle blower for T-Mobile's negation, gross negligence, and dereliction of duty as it relates to cybersecurity. Please help us!

Mickey really has no clue what he’s doing. T-Mobile has fired large numbers of their most experienced & most educated employees all in the name of hiring some recent GenZ UW grad with a degree in ‘business’ that will work 70 hours a week for $48k and a 3% raise a year.

I guess we all cost too much.

Sincerely,

GenX

PS- fu-k you Mickey.

Those that are staying need to be looking for other employment as well. This isn’t part of the normal pivot and regroup cycle. This is leadership having no idea what they are doing. Great people who were some of the only ones left with true/‘tribal’ knowledge of these systems are gone now. I was impacted going into the merger and found a fall back internal job (step back and since promoted again), but that was in arguably redundant positions so I understood (as much as someone can). This is different, way different. My heart goes out to all of those that were impacted, you had nothing to do with this. That doesn’t make it better right now, but when you have a better job and those of us still here are looking over our shoulder you’ll be better for it!!!!!

It sucks but it is a business and as such needs to make money. The more money the more people it can pay. Letting people go is not fun but in a few months they will identify were they need more people and put more to work. It is a cycle.
TMO was a very good place to work with very good benefits and they did what they could to make it fun while there.
*Don't take it personal even though it feels that way. Your next job will probably pay you more.

Don't love the employer ; Love your Job.... Always work with second job option ready... Sc--w the employer... they don't give sh*t about employees... Speed of trust... All hands... yearly picnic.... Winner Circle, Peak these are all bull cr-p... all are meant to serve leadership check boxes... you too are one checkbox in there sheet. You are just an asset to them which they can purge whenever they want and show candy whenever they feel like.... Never ever get settled in job.... its not your own company... so don't give dam about it besides doing your work/job and giving more interest in that... it will help at the job or whenever you looking outside....

TMO and ATT merger or buyout was blocked by the FCC, years back, the reason was that there will be not enough competition in the market. Although, the Companies promised to create more jobs…. The study which was done by diligent FCC employees showed that whenever there is a merger or a buyout between companies it always results in layoffs due to the duplication and change of strategies.
I am one of those affected by this layoffs but I knew from day one, that layoffs were coming and will continue until a setup no is reached, be that by attrition or forced resignation or layoffs.

The IRS has 87000 new jobs available. Maybe a couple thousand could do an audit of TMO

The DOJ won't pay any attention - but the FTC will. Check out their new initiatives.

You're probably right about the DOJ not caring but you can still twist this tu-d under their noses in as about as much time as it takes to respond here. If enough people make a big enough stink, they'll take a look. At this point, what else do you have to lose?

Meh! This rock is rolling and "we won't stop" until it hits bottom. T-Mobile execs lack real strategy and are focused on the wrong problems. I highly doubt the DOJ actually cares. You are better off looking elsewhere.
