Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Help me get laid off. Suggestions?

Hi. I have been floundering at WF for many years now. Inadequate supervisors unmotivated. Most teams are just interested in biweekly paychecks and Company perks to pay their bills.I used to do work that really mattered with a major impact. These days with so many reorg’s, I’m on a dead-end team so back office that I can’t see any light.Open to good suggestions on how to get laid off.

I can’t get myself laid off. Too many people think I’m a very invaluable team member.I’ve been around for decades. Just imagine all the business information I’ve amassed all these years. Not to boast, but I found that I can run circles around many of my teams I’ve worked with over the years. One never really knows their worth until they work with others. Happy for all the praise over the years, though almost everyone I know has moved on. Nobody knows me, now.I rubbed shoulders with many past executives of the company. How do I tell people I’m a valuable resource without sounding somewhat brash?Humbly speaking, that is

Honest conversation with your manager has worked for some, just make sure you have a good relationship with them. Approach as “If you need to reduce head count in the coming months, I am looking to retire next year.”

I do have to admit that it is a toxic culture. Having been there for so long, I have to remind myself that I’m a decent person. Will continue coasting until a better opportunity comes along.

For your own sake, find another opportunity and leave. Wf employee environment is so toxic. You don't realize how much until you leave and gain some distance. Waiting for a package is wasting time you will never regain. It's gone.

Is FIFO a factor in the decision making which teams gets laid off or not? If a team member has been with the company for multiple decades is there a possibility they just get moved around as it’s cheaper to move them around then to lay them off and pay a huge severance?

How many managers have posted here stating that the decisions came from above their head, even their boss's head? What makes you think anything you do is going to make you a better candidate?

At this point it's about being in the right place at the right time. Is your team already min-maxed? Could your group afford to lose 20% of its staff?

But wait, if you’re an exceptional employee with lethargic supervisors, then what do you do?Doesn’t look good on a résumé if you keep bouncing around due to inferior leadership.

Stop waiting and do some about it. You’re part of the problem if you’re “wanting to get laid off”. Remember when you point a finger at others, there is three more pointing back at you.
