I like my job and I’d like to continue doing it, I just don’t know how much more I can handle thrown my way. I understand people are leaving but why exactly is Chevron not backfilling? We sure as he-l can afford to make competitive offers to new employees so it can’t be that nobody wants to join. Do they expect us to start doing two or more jobs for good from now on?

All you who downvoted the comment made by @1pju can raise their hand when your boss or coworker comes by asking you to take on more work, without more pay. Don’t look to me, as my hands will be nailed to the desk.
Me accepting more work put onto my plate is like Superman willing to handle Kryptonite all day long. Won’t happen.
I come to work on time, do only the job duties my job calls me to perform, I deliver my output accurately and on time, I take only 30 mins for lunch, I am seen throughout the day not slouching, I don’t perpetuate the rumor mill, I don’t speak about politics, I don’t step on anyone’s toes, and last but not least I catch my vanpool promptly on time to go home. As soon as the van pulls out of the parking lot, my company mobile is turned off until the next work morning. I’ve done this for as long as I’ve been on the payroll and I’m well liked by my workgroup, supervisor, manager and other colleagues. I’ve received great rankings, salary adjustments and a few promotions in my career. Bottom line is do your job well, don’t be a bother to anyone and be reliable. Being a goody two shoes or a workaholic won’t make you happy or score you points at Chevron.
Learn to play the game. Go to your direct report and say you need more workers to complete your current workload ... never say you can't do it, just say you will be happy to led others to get the job done well and on time. Then slowly step back, look for more work to be assigned, and pass that onto others also. In short order you will be management material and will be moved up the ladder. Chevron values clear leadership communication and team behaviors more than "can do" knuckle-down to extra work types. The biggest mistake you can make is to say you will get it all done on time and then fall short.
Chevron culture has degraded into condoning those who don't want to work (much), usually the favored few, pawning their work onto the unsuspecting. Insist in your new performance review on developing a plan to even out the work.

While you’re getting overworked, new hires are raking in the cash. A recruiter told me that Chevron has to offer more than what 5-year employees are making to be competitive in this market.
Boo boo. You are working harder than you want to. While you are pretending to do your job from home. Life is so unfair.
