Connecticut company refutes report of 1,000 layoffs, declines to say how many job losses

A Stanley Black & Decker spokesperson on Tuesday described a Wall Street Journal report as "inaccurate," stating that the company is cutting 1,000 finance jobs across its operations — but declined to provide information on how many job cuts were included in an initial round the company's CEO said last month would be largely complete by the first week of October.

They are lying, but its not clear why. It is unfortunate that they cannot be trusted.

Interesting is they laid off a needed position then filled it again 2 months later.

As a former Employee of SBD I find the company's response misleading. If the number is not 1000 is must be 999? I know first hand multiple positions have been eliminated since August. The Data Science team alone was 200+ people plus add in the various Finance Teams and Supply Chain employees. Many colleagues have either left voluntarily because they saw the writing on the wall or have been affected by this mass restructuring to save $200M. Their response to the WSJ article is pure Smoke and Mirrors.
