Threatened with termination

I really have a hard time believing the story that a person was threatened with termination because of asking questions about pay raise and other things.
However, everything is possible here.
That's why I'm wondering if anyone else has perhaps heard or experienced a boss threatening to terminate them for some trivial matter?

All results are made up. Buddies get good performance, hard unreplaceable employees get average as do poor employees. If you rate an employee as poor a manager will have to do monthly appraisals which is work.

"I was threatened with termination because I clogged the toilet. I couldn't; help it."

The office I used to work in had a sign that said people who intentionally clog the toilet will be arrested and prosecuted. LOL!

" Had good reviews throughout my tenure"

Translation: Had lazy managers that don't like to make waves, so they simply cut and paste good reviews for all of their people, rather than take the time to provide honest feedback to low performers, and deal with a couple disgruntled people.

80% of managers fall into this category.

And all it does it cause headaches for them down the road when they desire to get rid of their low performers but have rated everyone the same for years.

Surplus is not 'fired' the same way as described by the OP.

Yes, happened to me. Got surpluses along with another person by id--t manager. Found better job as CO Tech. A month later they added two to replace both of us. Manager thought he was slick, all he did was waste some cash. Had good reviews throughout my tenure.
