Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

More Unethical Behavior???

I just received news of further furloughs and most likely RIF's are coming. They will do anything but take care of their employees. Buckle up, yall. It's going to be a rough Holiday season for a lot of people.

I couldn't agree with you more. You got a lot of down votes because people don't want to be reminded to learn financial literacy. They want to abdicate all personal responsibility and accountability for themselves. These are the same people that won't have a dime to retire. They're expecting social security and voting for Dems to provide them a comfortable retirement. Margaret Thatcher was right. The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples' money.

Yep, my lab manager said similar "something big, and not positive, in the works", in Phoenix. She said not making the numbers and loss of experience reason. I also had planned vacation in December on the group schedule, she approves the month before, based on work load, she informed me that I need to move to "late" Q1 of 2023 for now, and that making Q4 numbers was top priority, and "We all need to make some sacrifices", I don't care if they lay me off, anyplace is better than here.

Manager talks about REVCOGS coming soon. Mine just told us that we basically are losing holidays and must work upwards of 50 hour weeks for the rest of the year. All based on the amount of REVCOGS we worked last week. Sucks if you worked alot, great if you didn't. Reward by punishing.

I was talking today to my boss in the lab. She said "we're falling short in making the Q4 numbers and something big is in the works". Sounds like it is coming soon.

It not that Honeywell can’t meet the payroll obligations. It’s the fact that they don’t want to. This company truly does not care for the rank and file. If furloughs are a standard tool being used by management then standard vacation policy should be reinstituted such that vacation can be used to cover furloughs of affected employees.

A furlough is simply a failure by Honeywell to keep their commitments to pay wages. The last people that should be held to account for management failures are the workers. Particularly the employees that are not owners in any real way. I grew up in a family business and my parents never took a paycheck until our employees were paid. This is a fundamental aspect of a successful business. A business that can't meet its payroll obligations is not a successful business.

If you are living paycheck to paycheck (and 2/3 of the population is), that is not healthy. Everyone is different, but I would suggest listening to Dave Ramsey (can watch or listen for free) for advice on how to break the cycle. If a furlough, lost paycheck, or unexpected expense hits you must be able to deal with it.

That is what vacation is for. To take a week off and come back refreshed. And not behind in paying bills and other necessities of life. Maybe you have plenty of cash on hand, but there are many that depend upon each and every paycheck and Honeywell fails at meeting their promised compensation.

Furloughs aren’t bad. Gives us a chance to disconnect completely and come back energized and ready to work. Actually a good strategy to counteract burnout.

Rumor is they want to fire us and then have a third party run the area in Phoenix (like they did in Tucson). Lowers headcount and meets the new targets. I wonder if they'll ever use that model on HR or the yes man Directors?

XMAS is coming you know what that means? Honey Claus will be visiting across all business. Unlike Santa, Honey spreads bad cheer and layoffs to save that all important 401K match. Must be gone by 12/15.

Honey Claus wear a black robe and carries a sickle be on the lookout!

I’m a past employee. What is the justification and rationale these days? That the company is protecting jobs by doing this? If so then someone should check to see if their pants are on fire.
