Look and Learn to those still there - Ford's downfall explained in one paragraph

"Mullally: A. This is our goal B. This is our plan to reach that goal C. This is how we will execute that plan.
Hackett: When I was a little boy, I got a little red wagon for Christmas and used it to deliver newspapers. So go out there, get excited, and knock em dead with great products like my red wagon!
Farley: We don't have the talent to accomplish anything so we need to get new blood in the door to fix what you old timers screwed up. We will be reducing staff headcount soon. Have a nice day."

@6psz+1jB6V2xW - the Dearborn Historical Museum curator wasn't fired. It was the editor of the Dearborn Historian magazine, Bill McGraw. He ran afoul of the Mayor, Jack O'Reilly. There was nothing new in his article that had not been published before, and frankly no reason to publish it again. Henry Ford was not "friends with", nor had he ever met Adolph Hi---r. Adolf Hi---r admired Ford and awarded him the Grand Cross of the Supreme Order of the German Eagle, which Ford accepted in Detroit. The New York Times quoted Ford as saying at the time of the award, “My acceptance of a medal from the German people does not, as some people seem to think, involve any sympathy on my part with Nazism. Those who have known me for many years realize that anything that breeds hate is repulsive to me”.

Hey bill, why did the curator at Dearborn's historical museum get fired after publishing a factual history of your grandfather Henry Ford?
Why hide or change history?
Hint.......he was friends with a man with a mustache from Berlin.

We could have put a proper 6 speed in the focus in 2014..we had a couple prototypes. But no we continued to build then to 2018. The first 5000 we secretly driven to DPG to burnish the clutches. They should have fired a bunch of people at that time.

In 20 years there will be a Harvard MBA class called "How to destroy a successful automobile company from the inside without trying too hard".
Step 1 hire leaders from Google, Lowes, Steel Case and HP. But you cant stop there.... You need to tap Toys-R-Us, Sears, KMART, Zillow, Dairy Queen, Flava Flave, George Costanza, the mayhem guy from the insurance commercials and the kid behind the counter on Fridays at Taco Bell on Telegraph (he was pretty sharp). This is all untapped talent that could easily run Engineering, Finance and IT groups.
There is no step 2.

I bet that guy from FTX is looking for a job. You could plug him into run FMCC. What could go wrong?

It was a privilege to have Alan as a leader. I remember sitting at my desk when stock was a $1 -- but we knew from the Town Hall's the situation, what the plan was, and the the upward ride was going to to be neat (Alan's word. ) So inspiring.

@1xmc+1jB6V2xW I thought you meant being serious here. The "talent", as you call them, is the discarded managers by other companies. They came to Ford because of the extra padding $$$ and higher position titles, and they'll leave before we sink, like so many other managers that have gone through Ford.

Lets be serious here. The recent new talent from all the best tech companies would not come to Ford if it was in a downfall. On the contrary, they all seen a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform a 100+ year old American staple to one of the leading high tech services and mobility solutions company.

Alan is one of those generational type of leaders. They do not grow on trees at Ford. JimF keeps stating Bill Ford as a Visionary. Sorry Bill is a nice guy, but he is not a leader. He ran the place nearly into Bankruptcy before he had to step down and was basically fired by his own family. You can reference the spring of 06 Free Press Articles for that one.
Jim H was another clueless one. In no way shape or form did he provide a vision or plan on what the company was doing. his 100-day plan was more like six-month plan which was nothing more than slides from Alans days along with 4-5 pages of clocks. Yeah, that made wall street feel really comfortable.

In simple plain ENGLISH regarding NA Salaried workers for those left after 11/30 you may be lucky in 24-36 months at most as far as keeping your job. Just last week they stated multi-million-dollar investment along with trying to hire 9k engineers in Mexico.
See this is the reason they do not have the trust of the employees left over. Some of you sat in the numerous town halls and when the question came up why we have a tech center over in a certain country the response was, well they are familiar with that market. LIE #1 The US market is our most profitable market. Not Mexico.
Vision. what is the 5-10yr. plan for the ICE group? Includes NA headcount. They will not tell you that. Notice in the TH when this was announced the q&a was discontinued.
So much for freedom of speech. There was nothing wrong in asking that question. especially for the people that will be left after 11/30.
They want you gone because the engineers in Mexico / Brazil and India are cheaper. Plain and simple. Not because you are old and not trainable. because if that was the case Jim F is older than 55 so does that mean his job moves to Mexico? Or Bill with the train station. What a winner that turned out to be. Does WHQ move to Mexico City.
I bet Trump will have a field day with that during the 2024 election. If elected kiss that $10K subsidy goodbye.
As for Doug Fields not sold on him yet. His resume is a bit scary to me with regards to time on the job. but i would like to see his plans for the FORD-E & BLUE groups.

Like some of you I agree the company needed an overhaul. But the changes to me still look like Friends of the family or political appointees. Personally, I do not care what color or s-x I would just like to see competent management first and foremost.

Any how I retired in 2021. I was an LL+. Sad to hear from my reports on how that senior management handled the bonuses. Jim F comments about the workers that week is despicable. For he has not demonstrated he is a Leader or a car guy as he claims. He was paid the same bonus as an Alan Mullay but in reality, he could not even tie Allan's shoes. The guys track record along with Billy is pretty sad. Surprised the Free Press and Wall Street give them a free pass.
Good luck to those left after 11/30.
