Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

If layoffs are coming, what’s the fate of Cisco contractors?

I’m a contract employee currently working on the Cisco website. And, as contractors, I know that we are more at risk of termination during staff cuts. As Cisco has a very large contract workforce, do you think the company will put a heavier focus on cutting the temporary staff over the full-time, permanent folks?

Several contractors, myself included, were laid off in October. We were told that Chuck was focusing on employees— and that meant cutting contractors.

"Do you know why the company has so many red-badge contractors?"

Yes, because you don't understand accounting 101.

Red badges aren’t employees.

Do you know why the company has so many red-badge contractors?

Because most blue ones are not competent, not capable enough to be help themselves. Simply put, they have no value. Useless.

Red badges are cheaper than blue badges with the exception of a few. Plus, Cisco likes to chop older YT males who have long tenure - they cost more. Then Cisco hires new younger folks at lower grades. Cisco might get some "ideas" at what Elon and Zuck did and make a large chop this time - not 50% or 13% but maybe 9% cut so as not to raise eyebrows. They delayed the LR till Jan 2023, which is the end of Q2.

If you have a contract that is about to expire, yes would be worried. Some in Q1 were not renewed. Not set in stone, they still need someone to turn the lights on/off each day.
