Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Any truth to the rumors that some developers are being called back?

Overheard part of a conversation saying that with quarter end and EOY approaching, projects have stalled and obviously deadlines are being missed. Contractual agreements with clients are trying to be pushed back to early 2023. Good luck with that! Clients are already furious so let's just make the situation worse by delaying their work.

Question - if you were contacted about coming back, developer, BA, CSR, etc, would you even consider it? Curious to see the replies.

I got a call from a Fiserv recruiter a couple months ago. I told her that Fiserv RIF'd me just as COVID was hitting, leaving me with mucho undue stress. I told her, why would I want to go back to a company that dumped me at the worst time.

I found a much better (and more stable) job within a short time, but in no way did I deserve such treatment.

(Oh, and I was threatened with a loss of severance and subsidized health on my last day because I dared save a copy of a personal document from my laptop's desktop).

I left Fiserv just before this last big RIF. Since then I have been given 8 days off, a 50% raise, and a holiday bonus and I have already been working at the new place for less than 60 days.

Fiserv is significantly under appreciating and under paying it's workers. For me to even break even they would need to pay 200% of what I was previously making there. Fat chance that happens.

Even if you sign a non-disparagement clause, why not talk to Caitlin anyway? If enough people do, she could still publish a story with anonymous sources.

"Since most of us are under non-disparagement clauses, the media has been left out of this. Pull sh-t like that, and the main stream media (read, left-wing media) immediately get involved."

Are they really making people who take severance sign a non-disparagement clause? Yikes if so. Pretty telling. For the pittance they are now down to for severance I think I'd tell them to pound sand on that agreement.

No, Fiserv HR is just like frank and full of sh-t. Their promises are worth less than the paper it's printed on.

Only 10k signing and 10% raise? I got 30% more after I was laid off, maybe for another 30% on top of that. And in addition to what everyone has said I would also make sure my hire date was pushed back to when I originally started. If not before.

I would need a 10k signing bonus, WFH, 10% raise, and on writing that job guaranteed for minimum of 3 years

The work culture is atrocious. I did get contacted about going back, and I basically told them to eff off because I hated working there so much. Nothing would make me work at Fiserv again.

The only people who would consider it would be former employees who haven't found their next job yet. No one is going to leave a stable job to go back to an unstable job. Even if their next job doesn't fit right, they can just find a different job rather than returning to an employer they can't trust.

This is one example of why a company's trustworthiness is something that must be protected. Once it is tarnished it takes significant effort to repair it.

I would go back under these conditions:

Part-time
50-50 office vs wfh
30% salary increase from what I made full time

The benefit of part-time is that it’s exactly 30 hours. Must manage to that number. They can’t ask for overtime, weekends, or travel.

I’d go back if I had it in writing that I wouldn’t have to pay back my severance, that the job was 100% remote, and that it was short term - since I’ve retired. I value my former coworkers and would be ok supporting them for a bit.

The Elon Musk way? Oops, WTF I do now that I RIFd the wrong people?

Ha! Never going back and have to payback severance...no thanks.

I'd only consider returning to my previous team at Fiserv under three conditions: (1) a significant salary increase over what I currently make, (2) a signing bonus, and (3) a promise—in writing—to come in as a fully remote employee. Admittedly, then can always go back on the remote promise, but in that case I'd jump ship again.

But to be honest, I don't trust FB and crew as far as I can throw them, so the deal to boomerang back would have to be pretty sweet for me to seriously consider it.

Lol. I'd never go back.

And in some areas it's not developers. There are no analysts or support. Wonder if they'll get called back as well?
