Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Rant on this “Hunger Games”!

I am a bit worried. I started at the same time as two more diverse employees on the team. I believe they are both G6/G7 and I am G7 (pretty certain on this). I believe close grades are being scored together.

In a skills based review …..if objective I would be ranked higher. I’ve been given some of their workload, with other workload shifted to me. But let’s be real! This is a real fear for many.

This sh-t is stupid, we all know who the weak people in every group are. They should just be volunteered. How can this be made more objective with a list???

Another thing I cannot stand is how as soon as this announcement came out people trying to act like they are in a beauty contest. In group meetings “oh I am a bit tired after volunteering”, “oh my child has adhd my life is hard”. It’s like we are all begging management to “please choose me I’m mother Theresa”! What I see is overt and blatant calls of mercy.

The next 6 weeks will be the Hunger Games!!! Good luck I will pray every night the most capable are kept!

Believe me people are volunteering. I assume the actual issue will be who to tell ‘nope, no package for you’ to?

It feels like the rankings are just what legal and management thinks they need to justify who gets canned. Even though it is complete BS. Managers know who sucks!!

You are right. I have been at Intel for 15+ years. Reverse-discrimination based on race, gender, and other criteria is alive and well. Good managers push-back, but these layoffs are steered by HR.

I used to think that if shareholders knew, they would put a stop to it, but the mega giant investment firms seem to be driving this. Best thing to do is be 20% more productive than favored classes of people. This is getting easier every year as folks come to realize they have special consideration and then slack-off more. This is absolutely a big part of what is hurting Intel's execution today.

Good luck!

P.S. Everyone regardless of race and gender deserves a chance and to be treated equally. This is about meritocracy and nothing else. I am not giving up on Intel hope you don't either.

Get your resume updated and move on. Why stay at such a sh---y company and get treated like a red headed step child while being paid subpar? Don’t waste your life.
