Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Layoffs coming soon

Per internal emails, layoffs expected to resume after Thanksgiving. Some departments will see a decrease in US based employees, but an increase in offshore employees. VPs are concerned they are losing money due to multiple lawsuits going around and offshore employees are cheaper and I quote “don’t complain as much as US employees.”

This is part of the OGA 'transformation'.
The plan is to shift nearly all operational positions to India and the Philippines.
If you're in a technical role and you are U.S. based, get out while you can.

Laying off and firing US employees has nothing to do with complaining, saving the business, or any other flimsy excuse management and HR makes. It’s all about profits to the stock holders with a dash of CCP influence to destroy America.

I have worked with offshore for many years. They are no different than anyone else. You have good and you have bad. Human beings wanting income to survive and maybe even thrive. What I do see is power positions given to offshore leadership who then promotes the relationships to grow their own teams. So perhaps you should look to your own non-offshore leadership and question why they are not hustling and growing themselves? It isn't that they are less expensive, they have more perceived value. Find a better leader and you won't have to worry about losing your position. But good luck, because they are increasingly moving to other organizations where the culture is better.

To: A Former Mgr,

I have a few choice words for you...I'll keep them to myself. What I am going to say, you are a jack-a.. US based employees do not complain about everything! I believe we know how good we have it, most of us. Unfortunately, big corps/business insist on taking jobs from Americans and giving them to offshore employees who sc--w-up just about everything you give them and then it's sent back to the US based employees to work, figure out what the problem is. I have never seen such shoddy work in all my years of working then the cr-p that NON US-Based employees produce. Mistakes after mistake and nothing is done. All you ever hear is re-educate, explain again (for the 400 billionth time) how to do what they are supposed to do.
I'm glad I never had you for a manager. Your are part of the problem with companies, you think you're employees complain too much. Bet you think they should be grateful to have their job, company did them a favor by hiring them. They should be happy with the cr---y pay, too much work and the management that has their heads up their...
Not all managers should be managers and you're probably one of them that shouldn't. Might want to do some reflecting on why/what US based employees are complaining about before you make blanket statements such as you did.
Hope your holiday season is bright and merry!

I heard from an inside source the big thing they are worried about is a Gov't investigation (whistleblower) in to the fact they are using military benefits (retirement/VA disability) to offset wages. If you are part of that group, you should reach out to your Reps to protect yourself.

Lawsuits are a part of business. If you research all American companies I'm sure you'll find that most have numerous lawsuits. You should be thankful you're not a part of the tech industry right now there are thousands of layoffs going on. Corporations sometimes have to trim in areas to save business. All you can do is be prepared.

As a former manager I believe this is true. US based employees complain about everything. They have no idea how good they have it.
