Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Carloading is having a downward trend

What does that mean for UP? Are they going to furlough before Christmas? They have to make profits. It's not a good sign for us. Just think all the people they are training, for what? This company doesn't make any sense.

@2gvo There's a reason management doesn't claim BS injuries. Management can't claim a BS injury if they never leave their offices, or stay awake long enough to get hurt. I didn't "prolly" cause anything in my 20+ year career there. I left because of the stupid management, not the people I worked with. That's the other thing too. Is it too hard to actually use actual words when you type something? It makes it easier for some of us to know what you're saying, and helps you look smarter too.

Management doesn’t fire people- I never once intentionally fired someone. Y’all can’t follow simple instructions or rules and fired yourself. Sorry you all got participation trophies and don’t like being held accountable- y’all fire yourself - sleep on that

@2wd- you probably did cost the company money. Prolly caused derailments or better yet oh I hurt my shoulder getting a brake- at least management doesn’t claim BS injuries or cause human factor derailments. That’s all you buddy! Go save the company money- stop screwing up

I’ll tell you why there are so many managers- because y’all are a bunch of babies! It takes that many managers to listen to y’all complain. Y’all act like your work is so demanding. Boots on the ground ….lmao. Working there as a manager was like having thousands of incompetent kids

@2vyr You must be a manager! I'll point this out to you since you pretty much highlighted the very issue. Yes, far too many have lost their jobs due to the companies greed. Ok but who's responsible for the so-called greed? MANAGEMENT! The boots on the ground didn't cause the problems at the RR's, the management did! How can you expect people to be unified to keep all jobs, when management is constantly trying to cut or fire people? If management isn't the problem, then why did the head of the STB just blast the class 1 CEO's for the very problems that were entirely self-inflicted? If any problems are to be solved at any RR's, then the solution needs to start at the source that caused the problem. Wanna take a guess who I'm talking about?

Another id--t talking about cutting managers. Quit with the cutting B.S. Everyone should be unified to keep all jobs. Far too many people have lost their jobs due to the companies greed.

The only thing there worried about is for you to fill out your employee survey before you get kicked to the streets. Deadline is the end of November. Then the layoff are gonna happen.

Well Fritz said in a video a couple of days ago that they would not be laying anyone off. What's odd is that he lied about the exact same thing before when they started PSR. So I'd really love to know how anyone could believe him this time. Are there layoffs coming? I really don't think anyone will know that until the day it happens. This company has a management problem, and a very big one. There's WAY too many managers. Most of them have never been on the ground. The ones that have been on the ground, can't do the job anymore because of the changes that were made. The UP simply doesn't need thousands of management personnel interfering with operations run by the people that actually know how to do the work. If the UP wants to save money, then start by cutting managers. These people make 100k-150k or more with bonuses for doing what exactly? I know that's a pipe dream that makes too much sense, but it would be a great start. Did you get that Lance? Start listening to your employees, or continue watching this company's image and everything else fall apart. How much money could be saved by trimming the management staff? Just 5 people out of thousands would save over a half of a million dollars. Trim that number by a couple thousand, and the amount saved would be way more! I guess it makes better sense to trim the personnel that know how to do the work and hire more managers that can't do the work. Then have issues with hiring people because of the morale issues, and then scratch your head wondering why the company is in the condition it's in.

I don't see why anyone would hire out as a conductor. New hires don't know what their in for. Welcome to Uncle Pete's Hellroad.

Anything this company does has never made sense they never wanted to hire anyone. They just wanted to show the transportation board that they were doing something to overcome getting blasted because of the supply chain backups. all the new hires will be furloughed if not farther into the company.
