Internal Audit - ?'s

Would you recommend joining Internal Audit?

What is your salary if you are a Lead Audit Mgr or Senior Lead Audit Manager?

What are RTO expectations in Internal Audit? 3 days of your choosing or prescribed days?

My job is really stressful at the Fed. We have no idea what we're doing. I'm winging it most days and looking for a cush corporate gig. Thanks, Jerome P.

OP here, no joke....except for the last part. I come to this board for some comic relief sometimes, but was genuinely curious about opinions of Audit and what folks are being paid. These pay ranges of 117-200 or 144-300 for these roles are insane. Seems like HR would constantly be having discussions with people regarding pay given how misleading the ranges are.

Original Poster needs to clarify if the post was a joke given his signature. Did the auditors in the thread not pick up on this?

There’s a lot of dysfunction and constant change, but a lot of bright people that work hard to do the right thing as well.

Outside SF, NY, or Philly, Give or take about 10%, a LAM salary is around 120k while a SLAM is 140k.

You are required to be in two specific days based on audit team you choose the third however in reality they just really want you to actually show up 3 days

I was in audit twice. Once as an AM and once as a SLAM. Hated it both times. I actually liked the work, but both times I was on teams full of toxic sociopaths.

Whatever you do, do not join the compliance audit team. There are so many new people and it is a constant revolving door. So many new SLAMs that are just plain awful. Many new folks at various levels on the compliance audit team that come from compliance and have no idea how to audit. Beyond ridiculous timelines. How anyone can get fieldwork done in two weeks is beyond me but that was the ask because it is year end. Either they want us to rubber stamp or they think we are magicians.
Audit pays well. I would not say the level of frustration is worth the money.

Advise steering clear of technology audit team. Run by an unfit leader that has lost support of the team. Great migration of people leaving a good job to leave a bad leader

If you identify an audit issue related to consent order or MRA, you will be coerced to revise your finding to something easily obtainable or not even identify it. Audit is NOT independent here, and why most left, because of ethics.

Wells Fargo audit does pay well. That’s where the recommendations stop.

If you are used to just winging it, you will fit right in. They got rid of or scared off anyone worth a @#$& in the last 2-3 years. All that is left is a bunch of cronies that don’t give a @#$& about anyone or anything but themselves. They force their managers to curve their employees annual reviews so that 5% is the lowest rating and get no bonus. Another 15% get the second lowest rating and lose half their bonus. The ratings have nothing to do with performance, it’s all based on superficial appearance. Senior management (with 2-3 exceptions) isn’t competent and therefore unable to effectively rate auditors performance. Just a bunch of horrible people that have been brought in to make their metrics look good and destroy anyone that gets in their way.
