Some never learn that the reward for going over and above with the amount of work you do is almost always just more work. These people who expect to be rewarded are then frustrated when their efforts are not adequately compensated. That's understandable, but isn't it easier to learn to set boundaries and say no?

While discussing this topic with my boss he stated “I don’t care, let them quit”. Yes this is just one case, but this is seems to be a company wide attitude.
Yep and that’s why people are quiet quitting. They know they aren’t going to get anything in return for taking on more work…so why bother.
Of course your manager should care and yes you should be rewarded accordingly --- that is the job of a good leader, has nothing to do with anything but that.
