Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Q1 2023 layoffs coming.

We’ve all seen it before. They’ll shift some people around here and there. Some will be placed into positions where they don’t need to be in and some will be placed in the right spots. Some will be shuffled in order to protect them from leaving. After all that, heads will be chopped. I’ve heard from several different managers now over the past 3 weeks that layoffs will start Q1 of 23.

Jane is writing a book. The ESG initiative is but a chapter.
Chapter 1: How I became the first female Citi CEO etc…
Chapter 2: What a visionary I am to wholeheartedly jump on board with ESG etc….

Its funny to me as the populous is saying:
Everyone: “ok, ESG got it, gotta have it, whatever. What are you doing to make the stock move upward in comparison to other banks?”
Jane: : “But with ESG, we are doing this and that”
Everyone: “But what about the stock movement?
Jane: “So we’re improving the ESG footprint by”

Anytime anyone says anything about the stock price, she counters with some off the wall ESG statement. As if its the ONLY plan she has. If this is true and there’s no other tool in the toolbox, then yes, I am concerned.

ESG……..the writing is on the wall, it is going to fail. Jane must be a special kind of stupid supporting it.

Big boss loves productivity for sure. But Some of them see the productivity is because their middle managers did well. Small boss are the ones who told them how productive their team is. Sadly they even believe themselves are the reason of meeting deadline when they only signed their name on it. Big boss tell them ‘ great job’

Unfortunately when we all see yes men are underperforming but the boss see them as team player and treasure. We think we improved process and efficiency, the boss see as trouble and threat.

If you fit into the ESG bucket you are safe and sound. They bull’s eye for layoffs are on the shirts of Caucasian males. Everyone knows that. Oh sure, its whispered around the water cooler as you dare don’t voice it out loud but yeah, its there.

When you say directors that's too generic. Do you mean big boss like executive director or a director like a manager or avp?

Yes, there are underperforming Directors……….look around. They are “Yes Men”, who never own up to their mistakes……….always blame someone else for their incompetence.

There s no such thing as underperform directors. We are so head heavy and cut is always about the workers, never managers. Hiring is always managers

Yes, we all know its coming and that it will be deep. I guess the question on whether they do it before Jan. to keep from paying bonuses or after the bonus payout.

My bet is that it’s before bonuses are given to save even that much more.

I am a big boss and let me tell you that I like productivity. I dont need me boot heels licked but I need the deadlines met. I work in ops and it's not favoritism it's output.

If you work in back office, your job performance is rated by your level of being likable. Your skill and hard working will not save you.

Hope it s trimming fat this time. It was an opportunity for managers to get rid of unfavorable in the past. If you did not please your boss enough, it s time for you to worry regardless how hard you work
