Thread regarding Optum layoffs

I only do the minimum necessary

I absolutely cannot be dedicated to my job when a layoff is hanging over my head. I especially don't have any motivation to work when I hear more and more experiences of people who had great performance but it didn't help them to keep their job.

We may not be able to control whether we will be cut or not, but we can certainly control how active we are in looking for new jobs in companies that appreciate good employees. I think most of us are now more focused on sending resumes than on giving our best here...

HR is on these threads slamming quiet quitting. Bunch of useless mo--ns who will eventually themselves end up being in the unemployment line one day themselves. No one is safe. Just when you think your "sh*t don't stink", someone opens the bathroom door.. Go figure..

Do the bare minimum. Unless you're an owner, share holder, partner, trustee, etc..we're just employees with very few USian employee rights. Maybe put on a silly wig, chant the missionary style aims, and sing silly songs like duhvita health partners boomers and other lackeys

Been working at Change for 22 years now with a family (elderly parents and three kids) dependent on me. I have to do my best work because if I do maybe they will keep me. If they thrown me overboard and to the curb which most of us fear I will work hard to get another job. It’s hard in this environment as a developer but someone will want a hard working solid employee. Being older (over 45) is an obvious black mark and several interviews have gone nowhere but no room to get discouraged or despondent yet. Advice: save a year of money so if you need it it’s there. That’s just the price for being a worker these days as a company cares about you like you care about a piece of dust in the trash bin.

Until we know whether we are “headcount reduction (RIFed)” or offered an opportunity to stay just ain’t in my control. Realizing this is freeing as it’s my choice to stay and work hard. My hard work will speak for itself and open new doors we hope. But I wouldn’t hang my hat or livelihood on this company as there will be a lot of changes mostly headcount reduction and tech synergies, with heavy losses in shared services - think about 30 % headcount loss as is typical in these deals. To believe any different is besides the point and wishful thinking. These guys and gals are the smartest sharks out there, they have a legal interest to do well by the publicly traded company shareholders and must do what they must to hit their numbers, regardless of anything or anyone else. Else, they may also get RIFed.

I work my tail off - I need to. I have a spouse who we need the health insurance and an adult child that is dependant on my income. I can draw reports where I have personally delivered 30 times my salary in 5 years. I am a performer. I also wake up at night scared and frightened that I will let my family down. Let them down by Neil cutting my job. A man who has never met me. I still work hard as I call it integrity

Quiet quitting = ultimately long term unemployed.

Regardless of who you work for whether it be yourself or a large company hard work, grit, intellect, and good relationships are key to success. To do the bare minimum is a personal choice. It is rarely well rewarded.

Good luck.

Says a lot about your character. You are absolutely doing the right thing by looking for alternate employment. You are not someone I'd want on my team.

As a current Optimum employee , I have decided to put my needs first. It's apparent that this company is more interested in the bottom line. Front line workers, no matter what your position, are expendable. I do believe that they are planning to lay off some of the front line American workers. Optum has been perpetuating an atmosphere that lacks job security since the beginning of this year.

Nothing says you can't do both? Do your best so you can feel good about your own work, leave, if necessary or on your own terms, on a high note. Never stop looking what is out there. That is rule #1 in corporate American employment, you never know what the gods have planned any day.
