Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

GF has been and always been a sewer

Come on folks, once they cried Uncle to even deliver 7 nm it was over. What a laugh the GF story is.

GF is probably more tied to the cheapest consumer chips. Only desperate losers that can't even order a chip from TSMC.

TSMC has 3 nm test chips coming out today. The pivot was a pivot into a grave for loser.

Down cycles hit losers like GF hard. Chips act is joke. It won't save it.

GF had lost its direction guys. How can a company go layoff people after claiming 22% revenue increase and positive guidance. GF business model is not sustainable and will lead to its closure eventually. I doubt anyone going to buy this cr-p anymore. With layoffs GF can survive a bit longer so that TC can make some more money

I agree GF has always been a dumpster fire. It was never a good place to work

Have seen countless down cycles over the past 30+ years. GF will survive and continue to make chips. Eventually it will get sold and change control. The semiconductor industry has had a spectacular run. This was overdue. It won’t even be a bad one. GF is trimming fat by way of operating costs and labor. I’ve seen things when they were bad. When IBM, Intel and others literally used their equipment to finance operations through capital leasing to Sony and GE. Saw them come in and idle an entire fab once. I think we can all agree GF has an over abundance of directors, management, engineering, finance and marketing. It’s going to get lean but it certainly isn’t anywhere near apocalyptic.
