Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

NESG IoT BU Management

Revenue allocation is a big focus for leadership to show that Business Units are growing at a high CAGR. Numbers are not validated and PowerPoint is used to show that that the BUs are growing at an incredible rate. Revenue gets double counted in PowerPoint slides and NESG leadership hears what they want to hear. Everyone feels great and gives themselves a pat on their backs. Smoke and mirrors in the NESG Business Units as you take credit for sales that you were not part of. It is a smoke and mirrors game and the folks who play it are management savvy.

Steve Jobs once said that Management is about persuading people to do things they do not want to do, while leadership is about inspiring people to do the things they never thought they could. Based on this definition I doubt that we will be able to classify any of the GMs as Leaders.

Remember the “Donut” slide from the NM presentation? Ask your director to explain the “Donut” strategy to see if they even understand it. They will add the words “Edge” & “5G” and give you a vague explanation.

Cultural change can only occur with a major RIF of Grade 9 and above. This is unlikely to happen as this is the group that is laying off the lower grades to maintain the culture. Disney did a 180 degree change with their CEO in less than 2 years. Intel will take 5 years to realize their mistakes and that things are not working. Do we need a new Board chair?

Major initiatives are initiated bottoms up and showing effort in PowerPoint is more important than delivering results. Bottoms up initiatives are not aligned with company goals resulting in duplication of efforts. Top management does not have a blue print other than what you hear in some of the media interviews. The market sees right through it and the stock will not move until the company delivers on its promises and establishes credibility with shareholders.

No impact on stock price as revenue recognition creates internal competition across business units

SiLabs have a very good IOT solution and so does Qcom. However, I don’t have the numbers. I doubt Intel is among top 3 in IOT revenue.

It's called "strategy" and this habit starts from the top - take credit for stuff you had nothing to do with hands-on.
