Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

No rationale behind surplus decisions

The rational for surplus decisions at T follows the same logic as many other strategic decisions it’s made…absolutely none. The company is barely keeping its nose above water. Rather than stepping back and putting a stake in the ground with solid revenue producing channels and products, they simply surplus employees every single month without fail. Leadership has no answer, and they are quickly running out of runway. At some point soon, the market will dictate the fate of the company. You’ll notice the article about T complaining about TMO acquiring too much spectrum. TMO has a plan and is implementing, T just falls further and further behind, we didn’t even have the cash available to take part in the auction…simply embarrassing.

T tried to buy Sprint for their wireless assets. Government wouldn’t let them. They allowed T-Mobile to take over what was basically a bankrupt Sprint with those assets.

The only rational I need is for AT&T to surplus someone else that is not me.

There's a difference between the employees in the trenches witnessing the discord, and those that would have you believe " it's only you"....nice try.

There's a difference between not having rationale and some people not understanding why their surplus going on. Always remember you're one of somewhere around 200,000 people who work at AT& T which means you and most of the people on here are a tiny fraction

I remember back in “05”my 25th service anniversary award was a commeritive plaque which amounted to nothing more than a paper weight. No say or choice in the matter, that’s when I knew T was in real trouble. Don’t think we’re quite there yet but could be getting close. Happy I’ll be departing next week. Best of luck to all

Current Toxic-T is in the same position as Legecy T was before SBC bought it.

But now there is nobody that would want to buy Toxic-T with all the debr remaining behind after Ratty and Stinky totally s c r e w e d it up.

Only good thing that would happen if someone was d-mb enough to buy out Toxic-T would be that we would be rid of the Stinky! And he would be happy with the outrageous change-in-control payment Stink would receive!

They'll keep laying off, cutting projects, reduce investment if technology etc. until a venture capital company comes knocking....
