Will there be D&C rotational opportunities? I would think a lot of workovers should be in the queue ?

It will be run just like Indonesia - lots of high ranking nationals with lofty titles but expats actually running the show. A sham of sorts.

With out know any more details than what has been shown on the news, seems that Chevron will be able to recoup a lot of the money we are owed as we will be selling the oil ourselves, and paying ourselves 1st. Why wouldnt we consider it?

It’s going to be a hard road given the depth of the mess of disfunction, corruption and debt, but beautiful place and wonderful people deserve freedom and joy. I am retired, so will not be returning as an expat, but would love to visit on vacation one day when things return to at least stability.
There will definitely be some lavish US expat job positions available in Venezuela, but most of the jobs created by the bilateral opportunity will be filled by Venezuelan nationals. Don’t believe all the negative rhetoric and exaggerated lies you often hear. Caracas, Maracaibo and other large cities in Venezuela offer many modern conveniences, entertainment and areas for safe luxurious living. The socialist government there may occasionally demonize the US government, but that’s mostly a policial show. The Venezuelan people themselves all love the US and what our country offers. If you can get a job in Venezuela, take it. You’ll be very close to your US home and enjoy some of the most beautiful places to visit, not to mention the food and lovely women.

@OP Do you actually want to go to Venezuela? From what I’ve gathered, most of the foot traffic has been away from Venezuela, not toward it.
If you want to sign up to go, be my guest. I used to deploy to warzones because I was under orders. I’m not going to do it for Chevron or anyone else to boost share price so the c-suite can fluff their equity packages. I have better things to do, like being alive.

Chevron expat positions are great. Premiums, business class flights, pretend to work. I could see why people are jealous of us, I would be.
The last expats fled in panic when we other Chevron employees were clapped in jail. Be careful what you wish for. Greta we can resume the most carbon intensive production in our portfolio. And provide a huge reward to our favorite contract negotiation, AM.
How quickly do you think Pascagoula will get the first cargo? Six month term for the license, but first oil will have to be allocated, then scheduled, and a vessel lined up to be loaded. January at best maybe?

Sure, until Venezuela decides it’s not in their interest any longer. Then you could end up like the five Americans from Citgo that were arrested, jailed for several years, and released in October.
