Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Remote work mismatch:

https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/workforce/the-great-remote-work-mismatch.html

There are many people re-skilling themselves to align with business’s that allow more work from home. I doubt Citi will throttle back on the having you come back into the office. It’ll be interesting to see how it will all work out. I predict that you’ll see a shift in the quality of roles. Over time certain roles that require an in the office presence will be harder and harder to fill as people re-skill themselves to another role that DOES allow more work from home.

Don’t confuse “smart” with “devious”.

Citi is smart, at least in regards to this. Its cheaper to run someone off than it is to lay them off and pay severance. “Back into the office” is a tool being used right now to thin out the headcount.
