Lot of people are recommending Fresno, but San Diego area seems quite good as a move from Pleasanton.
Any recommendations for someone in the 921 team?

All of you that are suggesting to buying a home right now are going to be regretting it in a year or two, rent until at least the end of 2023 if you want to find a deal.
Fresno is affordable. You can get a really nice home there for under $600k. You have everything at your tips. It’s not a metropolitan city and not as “cool” as San Diego but you’re 2.5 hours from the beach, close to the mountains and close to wine country. A major downside is the heat!
The problem is there is no good place to live in California - they are all currently filled with homelessness, crime, crazy laws that don't allow you to live life well, and crazy taxes.
If you can get remote - the Tahoe hills (that haven't been lit on fire yet) and the redwoods way up north are the last beautiful places - the Tahoe hills will set you back at least 800k for a home. The redwoods (up by eureka) about 500k.
Bakersfield Ca. is a good location. Vibrant arts and music scene, cheap housing, great Mexican and Soul food places and I’d close to mountains and ocean.
Agra, India!
The person is already in California and wants to know where else in state is better
Why California? And good luck getting approved for a salary adjustment to relocate to a SAP1a state. The last person we had that relocated there is now underpaid for their location because it’s not in the budget.
some sanity left. Red state
These 2 statements are diametrically opposed.
If you value freedom or sanity I recommend leaving Cali. Life is beautiful out here.
What is the 921 team?
Florida
Lake Tahoe. Most senior executives have at least one vacation home there.
You can use the one in N. Lake Tahoe during the Winter and buy another in the S. Lake Tahoe area for summer.
Worth it! Prices are only increasing here.
