There are two good indicators for it. Are you over 50? Is your pay above average? It doesn't matter if you are on one of the main projects or if you think you're indispensable for your institutional knowledge and experience. If you check those two categories, your chances of being laid off are above average.

HR love using hard stats so Focal results could factor in or they may even mandate a skills assessment.

Start at 50/50
Add 10% for White or Asian
Add 10% for Male
Add 5% for being over 40
Add 5% for being over 50
Add 5% for more than 20 years of service
Add 5% for being retirement eligible
Subtract 20% for being Black, Hispanic, or Native American
Subtract 5% for being female
Subtract 10% for being non-cisgender
Subtract 5% for being under 30
If you are at VP level or above, does it mean you will be safe regardless of your age, race, tenure, compensation ...?
Will recent grad roles be rescinded?
While I haven't worked for Intel, the indicators are spot on. Happened to me at age 55 and my salary was above average since I was there 23 years.
