Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Could it be any worse?

I used to be proud of working for Honeywell, but today I'm ashamed to talk about the benefits and the general conditions I work in. I'm still here just for the reason that I still haven't got another job and in the meantime I'm wondering what is the next thing this company can do to make it harder for the employees? It seems to me that it can't get any worse.

ROFL -- You had me with "THAT COE" ..surely you mean the one that hits 100 percent VOE response .. somehow.. even though people are out sick and on vacation.

Have disability? Get a demotion. It has happened.

VOE survey that ask only questions they want answered.

A new surcharge for health care.

Goals that are not achievable.

Performance over humanity.

Earned by MB.

Your “insight” is impressive.

Honeywell will continue down the license path you outline in #1. They will continue to license IP.

A lump sum to shop for health insurance is coming.

I recall a description from a chief engineer much like you outline in number 3 twenty five years ago. He envisioned engineers standing around a fire pit outside a perimeter fence when someone inside the fence pointed and identified those who could enter and work that day. This process would occur day to day.

I have long believed #2 (lump sum for benefits) is coming. But then, what would the “benefits” people do? Oopppss

As an expert in the infliction of pain through application of red tape and corporate double speak, I am confident that Honeywell ALT will be able to extract even more value from gullible resources like you and your colleagues. My credentials? 38 years in a variety of Honeywell leadership positions-- I've played 9 block bingo with the best of them.
Ideas?

  1. Eliminate all employees. Projects will be managed by contractors and executed entirely by partners. Profit will be assured not through working product or delivering build quality but by charging license fees to the partner for access to legacy designs IP. All risk is held by the partner ( who will fail of course.. who cares.. honeywell got paid)
  1. Eliminate all benefits paying a lump sum for employees to shop the market.
  1. Reverse e-auction all internal tasks. Every monday you are required to bid on a list of agile tasks ( curated by over enthusiastic people in THAT COE). If you offer the lowest bid then you have a job for the week. No task? Cya.
  1. Reverse time card accounting. When you win an auction for some task your time card is loaded with labor hours. You get paid when tasks are complete not on some arbitrary calendar date. Government regulation requires accurate accounting so if you finish early that is marked toward your yearly savings goal and no you dont get a day off with pay.. next task. Be happy you have a job chai wallah.

If you want to succeed at honeywell you will need more imagination.
Can it get worse ? Of course it can.
