Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Payments Dive

New article by Caitlin Mullen.

Caitlin, the “declined to comment” comments say a lot. They’re not hitting the 3,000 employee number as quickly as they thought. It never occurred to them that most employees don’t want to move at all, let alone to NJ. As for new hires, there’s too much competition in this space. Young people have choices. Finally, the notion that the NJ jobs are “mostly tech” is incorrect. By tech, we internally define that at IT and Data Center. If you dig you’ll find that these folks done fit on either. For the most part.

Read the analyst call transcripts. It’s obvious the analysts on,y know payments not core processing. They have no clue about core. Very little us offered by Fiserv during these calls by Fiserv, it’s all payments.

“If they are just cutting people to control costs, then it could impact the go-forward growth of the business.” DING DING DING.

If the 3,000 number is not hit this year, does Fiserv still get the tax credit?

“Investors do get a little nervous when companies have a difficult culture, or have to cut a ton of costs” to hit their numbers

^^^^^^^
If that is true, investors ahould be worried. There is a "dificult" culture at Fiserv -- Just look at the comments on this board. I agree, not all employees know about this board and a small number of people comment, but a lot of people feel the same way. If it wasnt true, the corporate sponsored posts would not happen. Which, btw, notice how they have been absent over the past weeks while laying off thousands of people - they know the angry mob would come at them with pitchforks.

One last point, many people, i believe post her because they care. They care about earning a living, which requires a strong company. They care about their work and clients.

FB seems stuck in a 50s/60s era management style. The vast majority of people are not going to uproot their lives for a job. People live where they live for many reasons, schools, family, etc. I know of exactly zero people with a family of their own who were willing to uproot their entire lives and move. Especially to North New Jersey, the land of insanely high taxes, traffic and lots of cement and industrial parks. Hard pass. One does not to be Nostradamus to see this coming.

"she would not share current figures for employees inside, or outside the U.S. She also reiterated that the company has 18,000 employees outside the U.S."

Didn't she share current figures for employees outside the U.S. in the last sentence above???

True that, all they can expect to get now in NJ are scammers, mob, mafia, or friends with benefits. Good luck finding talent.
